National Geographic Photo Ark Insects Next in the wildly popular Photo Ark franchise, this book uses Joel Sartore’s signature portraits to highlight the amazing features and behaviors of the world’s insects, spiders, and kin. When the pandemic year forced photographer Joel Sartore to stay home in Nebraska instead of traveling to zoos and wildlife centers around the world, what did he do? He went outside and explored bugs. This book reveals more than 100 species of insects, spiders, and related creatures—some exotic, but many common in fields, forests, and neighborhoods. Amazing portraits in Sartore’s signature style—against a black or white background—capture these creatures’ bulbous eyes, probing antennae, and iridescent bodies in living color. Alongside, entertaining text explains the basics of insect bodies, lives, and behavior, rich with unforgettable details. Who knew that a South American butterfly emerges from a chrysalis that glistens like gold? Or that one species of beetle has pincers as long as the rest of its body? Or that wolf spiders can purr? For budding scientists—and for the kid in all of this—this collection of amazing insect life will intrigue, educate, and amuse all lovers of creepy, crawly creatures everywhere. https://lnkd.in/gAbYHA_b

As a wildlife photographer, the welfare of my subject is the priority. The last thing I want to do is disturb the roe deer I photograph, and I have a few methods that I use to ensure my presence doesn’t cause them any stress. However, all those techniques - using my voice for recognition, slowing down or changing the direction of my approach, pretending to browse on vegetation, sitting down - rely on me seeing the deer before they see me or before I get too close to them. There have been a few times where I've almost literally stumbled across a resting deer and we've both jumped out of our skins - an upsetting and frustrating experience. But how could I stop it from happening? I started to see more articles and adverts mentioning thermal imaging and it piqued my interest. I knew that people tracking and monitoring wildlife used the technology, but I hadn't considered using it for my photography. However, I had some money saved for new equipment and decided to investigate if it would be worthwhile buying a thermal monocular. In my latest blog, I explain how I’m now using thermal imaging to avoid disturbing my local roe deer and capture images like this one. 👇 https://lnkd.in/dStrVt-M #blogger #WildlifePhotography #NatureWriting #WildlifePhotographer #NatureWriter #Photography #Photographer #AmWriting

"3D Letter Manipulation" in animals typically refers to the process of creating three-dimensional representations of letters or words using animal bodies or formations. This can be seen, for instance, in nature documentaries or wildlife photography where animals inadvertently form shapes resembling letters when viewed from certain angles. It's essentially a visual phenomenon rather than a deliberate action by the animals themselves. Examples might include birds flying in formations that accidentally resemble letters, or groups of animals arranging themselves in a way that coincidentally looks like letters when viewed from above. #3dlettermanipulation #3dtextmanipulationphotoshop #3dlettermanipulationphotoshop #3dlettermanipulationand #3dtextmanipulationinphotoshop

It's good to see a baby black rhino with its mother. Unfortunately these animals are close to extinction because of human greed and stupid beliefs. Rhino horn is made of keratin (the same as our hair and finger nails) and is about as useful a remedy as my hair and fingernails! Unfortunately these animals may be de-horned as a way of protecting them from humans. This picture will be available in a forthcoming fine art collection. #rhino, #rhinos, #rhinolover, #buyart, #photographsforsale, #wildlifephotography, #conservationphotography, #conservation, #stopoaching, #protectwildlife, #travelphotography, #travel, #adventure, #exploration, #traveltheworld, #protectwildlife, #savetherhino, #stopextinction

Wildlife photography involves capturing images of animals in their natural habitat. It requires patience, preparation, and the right equipment, such as a long lens and a sturdy tripod. To capture stunning wildlife images, photographers must also have a good understanding of animal behavior and their habitats. #videographer #filmmaker #videography #editor #editing #magifilms

In Frame: A Cute Baby Deer and a Super Cute Baby Wolf with Liba Radova. Wildlife photographer, Liba, was in the middle of a photoshoot when A Baby Deer and a Baby Wolf decided to stop by and say "hello." Both were curious about her camera, and often peeped into it while she was working in the field. After peeking into her camera, they decided to pose for the camera that was capturing the moment. #wildlife Follow me (Harshal) for exciting #ESG and #climatechange trivia. “Are you ready to RUMBLE?” 6-point and 8-point whitetail bucks in Michigan, get after it in an opening between stands of pines and hardwoods. Whenever I’m shooting photos, and the subject is small in the frame, such as these whitetail bucks fighting, I will try to show more of the habitat or scenery around the wildlife I’m photographing to make it more of a “Wildlife Landscape” or “Whitetail Scenic”, which is what I did here. This is your way of allowing the foreground and background to be a major part of the photo and incorporating some of the habitat the animal calls home. This gives the viewer some context of where the subject is living out its life and where the wildlife is comfortable. So, this is one thing I did when taking this photo. Another thing I did is called “framing”, where there was an opening in the trees, where I positioned myself to see the bucks fighting between the trunks and branches and even the high spot in the ground to frame them. To make this a more pleasing wildlife scenic to the eye, I didn’t bullseye them in the middle of the frame of my camera’s viewfinder, so I also positioned them in the right third of the frame. In art and photography, this is called Rule of Thirds, which keeps the subject in the right or left third of the frame, or even the top or bottom third of the frame. Better yet is to put the subject at the intersection of the thirds. So, with the combination of 1 adding the scenery around these two bucks, 2 framing them in an opening in that habitat, and 3 placing them in the right third of the frame, I feel this is a much stronger photo than if I didn’t do the three things I describe above. 💥 🎉🎊 if you need a Christmas gift, order my new Whitetail Dream Bucks 2025 Calendar.
