Today, a number of leading industry associations, including ICMA - International Capital Market Association, co-signed a cross-industry statement on the MIFIR RTS 2 post-trade deferral framework for bonds. The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) is tasked with establishing the regulatory technical standards for a revised post-trade transparency regime for the European bond markets, which is intended to come into force with the introduction of the long-awaited consolidated tape. In the statement, the joint associations recommend that ESMA review its current proposals, which is published for public consultation earlier this year, and instead adopt an approach that is more scientific and data driven. ❇️ Read ICMA's statement here: https://lnkd.in/e9mWf_Zs ❇️ Read the joint association statement here: https://lnkd.in/ejAzEXHU ✴️ Contact details for further information Oliver Tinkler oliver.tinkler@icmagroup.org T: +44 20 7213 0323 M: +44 20 7931 100499

Delighted last week to have my colleague Kenneth Fang in Brussels to animate a roundtable on "Investor Access to Alternative/private markets: the US experience with closed-end/interval fund". Ken provided some great insights: - what's the regulatory framework for these funds? And particularly, how do they successfully manage liquidity? - what type of asset classes feature in the different types of investment vehicles? - to what group of investors are these products made available? This is particularly interesting as the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and the European Commission are finalising the #ELTIF rules, with ELTIF being mentioned as a core aspect of the Savings & Investment Union in the Report by Enrico Letta "Much More than a Single Market". Thanks to James Duvall for the great data insights!
