We’ve all been there – those partnerships that feel more like a social club than a business venture. You know the ones: endless coffee meetings, leisurely lunches, and yet, the needle on results doesn’t budge (ever). It’s frustrating when the high fives (or handshakes for my fellow Europeans) dont translate into tangible outcomes, leading to resentment or, even worse, a silent quitting of the partnership that undoes all the effort on both sides. Having been on both sides of the table, as a Partner and a Vendor, I’ve seen this scenario unfold more times than I’d like to admit. Terms like ‘black hole partner’ and ‘coffee stealing vendor reps’ might have slipped out in moments of exasperation (we’ve all been there, right?). Strong friendships can and should coexist with impactful business results.
