Continuing our break-down of new family law legislation that went into effect July 1, per a study conducted by the Virginia Family Law Coalition, interlocutory appeals are not to be permitted as a matter of course in domestic relations cases. They recommend that the statute be amended to clarify that the prohibition would not operate to negate Virginia Code § 8.01-675.5, which allows a circuit court to certify an order for interlocutory appeal.
