I join Michele Beffa in expressing my gratitude to Ambassador Ngurah Swajaya for providing us with his insights on Indonesia and to Michele Guerra for organizing the meeting.   Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia and one of the most vibrant democracies in the region. It is also the world’s fourth most populous country with 277 million people across 17’000 islands.   The Country offers opportunities in a variety of sectors and Swiss companies can capitalize on the EFTA-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and, effective August 1, 2024 also on the investment promotion and protection agreement. Saying "I am proud to be a Filipino" can be rooted in various aspects of the Filipino identity, culture, and achievements. Here are some reasons why I feel a deep sense of pride: 1.     Resilience and Strength: Filipinos are known for their resilience and strength in the face of adversity. Despite natural disasters, economic challenges, and other difficulties, the Filipino spirit remains hopeful and strong. 2.     Hospitality and Friendliness: The warm hospitality and friendliness of Filipinos are well-known around the world. This trait makes visitors feel welcome and appreciated. 3.     Natural Beauty: The Philippines is blessed with stunning natural landscapes, including beautiful beaches, mountains, and islands. Tourist destinations like Boracay, Palawan, and the Banaue Rice Terraces showcase the country's natural beauty. 4.     Delicious Cuisine: Filipino food is diverse and flavorful, with dishes like adobo, sinigang, lechon, and halo-halo. The cuisine reflects the country’s rich history and cultural influences. 5.     Diverse Talents: Filipinos excel in many areas, from arts and entertainment to science and technology. This versatility and talent are sources of national pride. These factors collectively contribute to the pride many Filipinos feel about their identity and heritage. #ProudToBeAFilipino

A short recap showcasing some of the vibes from our Bali Impact event co-hosted by Asia Exchange, Beyond Abroad, Edunation, The PIE and APAIE | Asia-Pacific Association for International Education. I had the privilege to host a session on the theme of "The further you go, the more you grow" in relation to studying abroad with some rockstar speakers such as Courtney Temple MBA, CDE®, Harri Suominen, Troy Peden and our student Lucia Dorn. The key take-aways from our experts in the session were: 🧠 Though kilometers can play a role in enabling opportunities for bigger impact on individuals when studying abroad, it all starts with the student's mindset. 🏡 As Lucia Dorn put it, "home is where my heart is". The impact of studying abroad on an individual can truly be realised after returning back home and at best, the impact can spread via one individual to a whole community. 📊 Some question marks remain. How will the impact of study abroad be affected in the future by trends such as virtual mobility and shorter-term programs? How will students with less chances for internationalization during the pandemic be affected (e.g. employability)? Special thanks to Dr. Maureen Manning and Louise Kinnaird for the cooperation! With so much positive feedback, we may be announcing a similar event before next year's APAIE, so keep your eyes peeled before making your travel arrangements next year👀

Note : Malaysia is home to over 200 distinct ethnic groups and tribes, particularly in the states of Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo, as well as among the Orang Asli in Peninsular Malaysia. In Sabah and Sarawak, you can find major indigenous groups such as the Iban, Bidayuh, Kadazan-Dusun, and Murut, among many others.
