My favorite excerpt from Warren Buffett’s Annual Letter….. He’s talking about Bertie, his sister, who he notes is a source of wisdom for him and sounding board for business principles….. “Bertie, like most of you, understands many accounting terms, but she is not ready for a CPA exam. She follows business news – reading four newspapers daily – but doesn’t consider herself an economic expert. She is sensible – very sensible – instinctively knowing that pundits should always be ignored. After all, if she could reliably predict tomorrow’s winners, would she freely share her valuable insights and thereby increase competitive buying? That would be like finding gold and then handing a map to the neighbors showing its location.” Those that have survived multiple decades in the world of business understand it’s cyclality. Ups and Downs. The market will revert to the means. Things change, but wisdom and common sense will normally win more in the end. We will all do ourselves a favor to read the wisdom and seek the mentorship of those who have seen it all. #investing #wealthadvisors #wealthmanagement #financialplanning

There are many reasons why credit unions are simply a better way to bank & more relevant than ever: collective ownership, an individual Member’s right to vote and voice in forward strategy, people helping people, the direct return of revenue dollars as dividends, taking a financial chance on someone when banks can’t justify that to their stockholders, active participation in the commmunity which makes a real difference in the lives of neighbors in need, and a sharing of ideas/policies/procedures/programs so that all credit union members succeed (when other industries may simply see that as helping a competitor). But I think one of the very best reasons is the deliberate focus we place on our next generation of leaders, in giving them the training, tools, and bandwidth they need and deserve to make us even better tomorrow than we are today. Massive shout-out to the Cornerstone League, and a diverse group of talented Young Professionals (including our very own Controller Brittney Swain in the video below). We appreciate all that our YP’s do for us now, and will really enjoy watching them excel and pay it forward in the years to come.
Our Young Professionals Conference, May 13-15, inspires YPs to shape the future of the credit union industry! Expert speakers will ignite your passion and expand your knowledge: https://ow.ly/btC950R2PZu Check out what last year's attendees said about their experiences. #CornerstoneYPC #CUYP
