A powerful scene from the X-Men movie series. X-Men is well understood as an allegory for the civil rights movement. And more recently, LQBTIA+ life. In this scene, the antagonist is gaining followers - cast offs, despised, undesirables, mutants. The reason? The creation of a "cure" causing a social rift on whether it's wrong or not along with legislators that want to force it on mutants to "fix" them. In this scene Magneto gains unwavering loyalty by showing his tattoo from Auschwitz. This is heartbreaking. Here in the real world, Auschwitz was one of the camps that became the end for millions of souls simply because they were seen as simply "other" by a government. We're at that precipice. The rocks are starting to be removed from under our feet one by one at a faster rate. The ONLY difference now is there's a larger population that are willing to fight. There's a guarantee that someone in your life would be on that train if this atrocity were to happen again. Unless we stop it. And we can. With the power of our numbers, our votes can change the future. We're past the point of spectating. Either you fight for what is right, or you're complacent in our death. Be the safe space. Be the change. Be known. BE BETTER.
