A powerful scene from the X-Men movie series. X-Men is well understood as an allegory for the civil rights movement. And more recently, LQBTIA+ life. In this scene, the antagonist is gaining followers - cast offs, despised, undesirables, mutants. The reason? The creation of a "cure" causing a social rift on whether it's wrong or not along with legislators that want to force it on mutants to "fix" them. In this scene Magneto gains unwavering loyalty by showing his tattoo from Auschwitz. This is heartbreaking. Here in the real world, Auschwitz was one of the camps that became the end for millions of souls simply because they were seen as simply "other" by a government. We're at that precipice. The rocks are starting to be removed from under our feet one by one at a faster rate. The ONLY difference now is there's a larger population that are willing to fight. There's a guarantee that someone in your life would be on that train if this atrocity were to happen again. Unless we stop it. And we can. With the power of our numbers, our votes can change the future. We're past the point of spectating. Either you fight for what is right, or you're complacent in our death. Be the safe space. Be the change. Be known. BE BETTER.

Is Alien Romulus reinforcing harmful racial tropes? The film’s portrayal of Andy, the only Black character, reflects the insidious 'Magical Negro' trope and the broader issue of Black bodies as disposable in Hollywood. Through a critical analysis, I explore how race, capitalism, and power dynamics collide in sci-fi to perpetuate outdated narratives. Read on for a deeper look into the intersection of media, race, and representation. #FilmCritique #RaceAndMedia #ScienceFiction #CulturalAnalysis #MediaRepresentation https://lnkd.in/e6wCAH9b

"Condoleezza Rice may be a master of realpolitik, an international policy wonk, and a well-polished presenter of officialdom, but she is not a capable political theorist and certainly not a credible historian." "Rice speaks the native language of the singular “uniparty” that includes the following front men and women: the Bushes, the Clintons, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris." "The neocon agenda puts the welfare of the state above all else, .... It involves the maintenance and extension of U.S. influence backed by the threat of force, force which must be demonstrated from time to time for the threats to remain credible." "To justify the state’s enormous military expenditures in life and lucre to the domestic population, the neocons parade a continuous lineup of bogeymen—from Osama bin Laden to Saddam Hussein to Vladimir Putin to Xi Jinping—all of whom must be analogized to Hitler." "That Condoleezza Rice extends this charade, considering the overwhelming evidence of neocon failure and deceit, is a testimony to her statesmanship, which requires that one be a consummate liar, especially where war is concerned." "Not only has American interventionism proved ineffective, it has produced seemingly unintended consequences." "By vilifying Trump, a new internal enemy, the neocon regime has been able to enroll the much of the “left” into its rank-and-file supporter base. This enrollment is nothing less than breathtaking, since the ideal left supposedly opposes military aggression and the “actually existing” left once despised neoconservatism." "Since, according to this left, Trump is intrinsically evil, any policy that he embraces must also be evil, including “isolationism,” the major bugbear for the neocon." "Likewise, interventionism becomes good, according to Democratic voters, by virtue of being the opposite of the “isolationism” embraced by Trump. As such, Trump’s opposition to the ongoing war of NATO and Ukraine against Russia sanctifies the Ukrainian war effort." "Another indication of successful neocon enrollment strategies is the fact that over 700 current and former national security officials endorsed Kamala Harris." "In a letter signed by former secretaries of state and defense, they stated that Trump poses a threat to national defense and the democratic system. And the chameleon-like nature of neocon propaganda was vividly demonstrated by the endorsement of Kamala Harris by Liz and Dick Cheney. But more telling is Harris’s welcoming of their endorsements, to the delight of Democratic voters." https://lnkd.in/eQ9UGxPC

🎉 In the grand circus of American politics, Rep. Eli Crane has once again dazzled the crowd, defending his House seat with the grace of a trapeze artist refusing to fall. As Crane swings safely back onto the GOP platform, the Democratic challenger Jonathan Nez remains earthbound, still trying to untangle his nets. 🤹♂️ The Associated Press, acting as the ringmaster, has called the election with 90% of the vote counted. Crane leads with 54.2%, like a precise juggler maintaining just enough momentum to keep all balls in the air. Meanwhile, Nez's tally of 45.8% sits just shy of the spotlight’s edge. 🎪 The show seems endless as the political terrain transforms with every vote counted – the acrobatics revealing both suspense and crowd frenzy. Strip away the glitz, though, and we find a tightly wound community, as tense as circus strings yearning to snap. But what's the prediction for this tightrope act? Let's forecast a blustery performance full of high-flying rhetoric and dizzying spins, precariously staged amidst a hungry opposition. Best to keep those nets handy! 🌪️ - The thrill? Seeing how this dance shapes the House majority, inching ever closer to a GOP stronghold. - The fear? Staring down another spell of partisan tug-of-war while onlookers grow weary. - The wonder? Adventuring forward, wondering what new stunts our political players might launch midair. So, are we witnessing the daredevil dynamism of democratic process or just another frantic chapter of slapstick showmanship? Alas, the metaphorical curtains whisper temptations of unending productions. All bets are off until the final curtain call, folks! For as Crane lands his latest leap, the audience knows this isn't the final act. Tea leaves and crystal balls, beach sand and boardwalk games – perhaps they're all equally equipped to hint the trajectory ahead. 🌠 - Raucous House dynamics? Predictable. - Comedy-drama outlook? Guaranteed. - Entertainment value? Assuredly rife with surprises. #PoliticalCircus #Election2023 #HouseMajority #GOPVictory #SwingWhileYouCan #TightropeDancerPolitics https://lnkd.in/emdgfXDV

"Synners" was published in 1991. If I'm inferring correctly from Cadigan's dedication, it was more of a "long time coming" novel than a "frantic and immediate burst of genius" novel, and that tracks with just how much The 80s come through in the story. It's like a cross between MTV, the Sprawl trilogy, and a romcom, all in a Clockwork Orange-level patois. https://lnkd.in/diMM-SmM

Why You Might Want These Strategists Around Gary Hustwit’s new documentary on Brian Eno https://lnkd.in/eFseM6cd is remarkable because no audience gets to see the same film, thanks to some computer code. This makes the documentary more interesting than usual, as you get to watch the code determine the direction of the footage, which is a mix of recent interviews shot by Hustwit and an extensive archive of old material. One clip that showed up in my screening was this one where Bowie talks about the contribution Eno makes to the process. It is so analogous to what strategists could be doing in the process and why you might want them to be physically around. ““I don't know, it's always a really embarrassing question for him because I'm not quite sure what it is that Brian does. He doesn't play very much. I always mix my albums, so I guess it has something to do with the fact that when he puts himself into a work situation, he just changes the parameters of what you're doing, more by verbalizing different approaches to what one does. So, it's more of a philosophic content with Brian rather than a didactic, musicianly kind of overall control. He's very good at "what if-ing." He'll say, "What if you were to do this?" or "What if you were to do that?" and possibly come up with new choices of avenues to take that maybe we wouldn't otherwise have thought of. He's really important in the early stages of making an album because he can set it on a path that will be unusual.” You might want the type of strategists around who are all about "what-if-ing"- solving problems, offering solutions and ideas vs. the ones who shrug their shoulders, shake their heads, and say "It's not on brief" when presented with early-stage creative.

The Good, The True, & The Beautiful https://lnkd.in/eAtaQXZK In this episode of Veteran Made, I engaged in a thought-provoking dialogue with Nate Coffey, author of Dead Reckoning Collective’s Where They Meet, about the intersections of art and the military experience. The conversation challenges the often subjective interpretations associated with postmodernism. We argue that while self-expression is a significant component of art, there exists an objective standard of goodness, truth, and beauty that artists should strive to capture, pushing back against the notion that art’s meaning is solely determined by the observer’s interpretation. Instead, we suggest that artists bear the responsibility of crafting their work to convey clear, universal messages that resonate across different audiences. Together, we challenge listeners to reconsider the role of the artist in communicating meaning, urging creators to take ownership of their narratives rather than leaving interpretation entirely in the hands of their audience. This discussion not only questions prevailing artistic norms but also encourages veterans and civilians alike to engage with art as a means of shared understanding and connection.

My friend asked Bing Copilot a question and i was like .....wtf? Q:is william joshua drown in the illuminati! A:seems there are some intriguing discussions and theories about William Joshua Drown's connections to secret societies like the Illuminati. One notable analysis explores the myth of the Illuminati's influence in Hollywood and examines William Joshua Drown's background, including his family's historical ties to Freemasonry¹. However, these are largely speculative and part of popular culture rather than confirmed facts. William Joshua Drown is primarily known for his work as the CEO of Dripsy Drown Films and Entertainment, where he creates documentaries, mixed reality projects, and explores ancient mysteries in Los Angeles². He is also a combat-disabled veteran and advocate for sustainable housing initiatives. Is there something specific you were curious about regarding William Joshua Drown and the Illuminati?
