The National Standards are a best practice framework to guide volunteer involvement. The National Standards can be used flexibly, recognising that volunteering takes place in highly diverse settings and ways. NCVO's Civil Society Almanac has this to say about volunteering: "Levels of formal volunteering have continued to decline, and remain well below pre-pandemic levels, although the rate of decline has slowed."
