Lots of changes going on! The ACT is shortening their test and making the science section optional. Students can now choose between the ACT, the ACT plus science, the ACT plus writing, or the ACT plus science and writing. Students can take the digital shortened test in April 2025; the paper shortened test will debut in September 2025. Following the success of our first task force on green metrics, we are excited to announce an open call for new task forces to create educational materials. These can include: Fundamentals of sample preparation, University course resources, Step-by-step guides, or Any other innovative content.   📂 Output formats may include PDFs, videos, or other creative approaches to knowledge sharing. Interested in contributing? The article outlines multiple practical strategies that educators can employ to effectively integrate social media projects into their teaching practices while ensuring inclusivity, accessibility, and digital citizenship: Platform Selection: Choose platforms that align with learning goals, offer intuitive interfaces, support accessibility across devices, and provide privacy controls to safeguard data and maintain students' safety. Inclusivity and Access: Design flexible projects that accommodate diverse learning styles, skill levels, and preferences. This includes scaffolded guidance to equip students with necessary digital literacy skills and alternative assignment options for those unable or unwilling to participate on social media platforms. Instructional Design: Ensure assignments are aligned with course objectives, emphasize creative and critical thinking, and include comprehensive instructions and support materials to reduce confusion. Ethical and Digital Citizenship Training: Embed discussions on privacy, ethical online behavior, and digital citizenship into course activities. This includes teaching about privacy settings, informed consent, netiquette, and intellectual property to foster a respectful and responsible online environment. Brandon Wright, Ph.D. posted about intrusive advising recently and it made me think about how I once became apathetic and questioned the value of going to school. I can remember telling my advisor that I wanted to drop out and of course my grades reflected it. I was placed on academic suspension and sat out for a semester. I worked to save money and pay for one class the following semester and I took newswriting and reporting in the Spring of 2017. Dr. Jacqueline Shaia changed my trajectory she was the professor for this class but was familiar with my story. She pulled me to the side in Heritage Hall and told me the truth and what I needed to do, told me about the resources and demanded that I would not miss ONE class that semester. She was not playing any games with me and checked in often. I missed one class that semester but it was to go do the very thing I was learning in her class; working the Red Carpet for the 2017 Stellar Awards. When I returned from Vegas I gave her this media pass as a keepsake. (The absence was excused of course) Had it not been for her intentionality I possibly would not have graduated college, seriously; here it is weekend after weekend I am now researching doctoral programs 😀…..there is some good to this intrusive style.
