We are the the ATX landfill today. Learning how a landfill operates; business model behind it; geology and engineering that supports it. It’s more complex and thought through than what we generally assume when we think landfill! #nextgeneration #recycledmaterials #lesswaste #landfill WM
A smile and the will to knock on doors unannounced is a gamble. And as an entrepreneur you know it could go either way. But when it works out. New and genuine relationships form and you learn stuff that blows your mind. Thank you Jessica Bivone & Jesse Andrade for the tour today of the WM Austin Community Landfill. I learned a lot. And confirmed much of what we suspected and already knew was true: recycling is broken. But also, landfills are there because we produce the waste in the first place. It’s not the landfill that needs to look in the mirror. You and I do. #recycling #recyclingisbroken #reducewaste #landfills #austin #austintx #zerowastecity #partnershipsoftomorrow

Collaboration on simple yet effective measures to benefit all.
As part of Scottish Recycling Week Terrenus Land & Water Ltd worked with Simul8 and Rebecca Sydenham to upcycle / recycle some of their old office equipment to help house and organise our storage container. Saving valuable items with life yet in them from the skip. A great effort by all!

Lambeth council has committed to reducing its carbon emissions to net zero by 2030. To help meet this commitment, we need to reduce the amount of waste we send for incineration and increase recycling. Reducing the frequency of collections of general waste will encourage more people to recycle as much as possible which will reduce the number of vehicles required to carry out collections, resulting in cleaner air, reduced emissions, and less congestion on our streets. If we’re to meet Lambeth’s broader 2030 vision of becoming a net-zero compatible borough then we need to reduce, re-use and recycle more! ♻️ 🌏🌳 #climate #netzero #reducereuserecycle
📣 Black bin collection for street-level households is switching to fortnightly from next week. ♻️ In some parts of the borough it has already boosted recycling rates. 👍 A huge thank you to residents who have adopted more responsible waste management. We're confident that, with your help, we will achieve #Lambeth's 2030 #NetZero vision with #reuse, #reduce and #recycle at its heart . Some days you're scanning in the Bahamas overlooking Tiger Wood's yacht, and other days you're in a gnarly recycling plant on Staten Island. You could climb around and pull hand measurements I suppose, but I certainly think #laserscanning is the best way to capture undesirable or unsafe locations accurately and efficiently. #truescan #mrf #recycling #processengineering

Again the focus of these reports is on better recycling! What about a focus on the producers who put these products on the market - when are they going to take a bit of responsibility? There needs to be a massive campaign around the safe disposal of batteries and electronics containing batteries and this should come from producers! The recycling industry also needs support and investment from producers to put some real recycling facilities (not just bulking and transfer points) in place for recycling these products. The recycling sector never placed these products on the market - the producers did!

🏈🎉 Big win for the Washington Commanders over the New York Giants! It’s always exciting to see the team perform at its best, but as we celebrate the victory, let’s also take a moment to address an ongoing issue: the stadium's new name and the persistent waste problem. Despite the fresh branding, the challenge of waste management remains. Every game day, tons of recyclables end up in landfills when they could be processed correctly. It’s frustrating to see such potential waste going to waste! Want to know how we can improve recycling efforts and ensure that more materials are reused? Let’s dive into some practical solutions and ideas to make a difference! 🌍♻️ #WashingtonCommanders #WasteManagement #RecycleRight #TrashLife #usrefuse

Simpler bin collections for England to boost recycling. New approach puts an end to confusing recycling and excessive bins. New simpler recycling collections will see the same materials collected from homes, workplaces and schools, ending the confusing patchwork of different approaches across England. https://lnkd.in/eEdbcv5K

Once the expired or decommissioned fire extinguishers have been fired off/emptied, all of the remaining components get separated to go to their next stage of recycling! ♻️ This shot here, shows the extinguisher handles that still require a further breakdown process before they are sent on their way to be recycled! 😎 Give us a call on 0417 985 300 for your recycling and environmental needs! #ExtinguisherEcoHeroes #ReuseNotRefuse #MetalRevival #BanishTheLandfill #FireSafetySustainability #ExtinguishWaste #EcoExtinguishers #extinguisherrecyling #recyling #metalsustainability #ecofriendly #wabusiness #perthbusiness #recyclingbusiness #perthrecycling #recyclinginperth #sustainablebusiness

College students at Tulane University started a venture that is keeping glass bottles out of the landfill and crushing them into sand for coastal restoration. Their company, Glass Half Full, is the only glass recycling facility in New Orleans. Read about their important work in this feature in the The New York Times. 🌍♻️ #GlassRecycling #Recycling #CircularEconomy #CircularEconomy #Recycling #KnaufSocialSquad

How can we take #reuse and #repair mainstream? 😎 That was the question that Bryson Recycling came to us with as it looked at whether it made sense to establish a large-scale reuse park in North Wales. Our research shone a light on the possibilities and opportunities available to them, which will help Bryson Recycling support the #BeyondRecycling commitments in Wales and help the local authorities they serve to significantly increase the scale of reuse in the region. You can read more about this (and our other work) in our 2023-24 #impactreport (link in comments below).
