Women for FHIR is back! After the initiative was born at DevDays 2023, it’s exciting to see how much it’s grown this year. It was great to see so many attendees at the lunch, with a mix of women and supportive men. As one participant said, "we didn't know there were so many women at DevDays!” Across the Women for FHIR lunch and breakout panel session (ft. Martine Berden, Vivian Neilley & Kate Ebrill), there were plenty of inspiring and thought-provoking conversations. Many of the ideas that surfaced are universally applicable, not just for women—there’s plenty we can all do to create a more inclusive environment. Key Takeaways: Newcomers: - The FHIR community is welcoming but can also be overwhelming due to the wealth of expertise—and simply being aware that there are others who don’t understanding can be comforting. - There’s more we can do for better onboarding: explaining WGMs, Zulip, and where to address questions. Mentorship: - Mentorship isn’t just about having mentors; it’s about having a supportive community. - Key qualities of a good mentor: truly caring, listening, understanding, helping you gain confidence, being a cheerleader, and making introductions. - We should keep these conversations alive beyond events. Thank you to everyone who joined and supported this initiative. Let's continue to drive change and support each other in the FHIR community! 💪 Health Level Seven International #womenforfhir #fhirdevdays

Musings of a week at SXSW Sydney : 1. Farts still sell better than advocating for domestic violence or access to justice. Are farts still more comfortable than uncomfortable truths? Or is it more Who Gives A Crap ? 2. When minds are merging, I want to go home exhausted yet on a high. Not from info consumption, but from being sparked by thought provoking ideas & interactive conversations that challenge to think differently. 3. This often comes from random run-ins with great people you would otherwise not meet. Wouldn't you agree Ryan Patel ? A missed opportunity to create and facilitate more of this ! I mean, definitely not the "awesome" app that was going to make it happen ... Blackbird & Startmate deliver on this at #sunrisefestival paired with the Brella app. Watch & learn SXSW ! 4. Was there enough diversity & inclusion? Not just in terms of attendees and speakers. Was there enough diversity in reflections, challenges, points of views represented or heard? (I will wait ...) 5. Kids = future. Why don't we invite them to the table? Not just as attendees, but as valued participants in the conversation. Primary & high school kids would truly leave you baffled with their questions & challenges. FutureTech Association Australia ? 6. I got to attend thx to Social Enterprise Australia. They created a truly safe & inclusive space for all opinions. That gave me the courage to believe that my opinion and my opinion as a woman is not stupid. So next time, should I just.... not give a crap? It's not all Karen talk though. I had an amazing time and I did come back feeling more motivated than ever to build No Worries Mate & more courageous to fight for what I believe is right. I did get to meet great people, but I had to actively make it happen. I am grateful I got to involve my kids. As the true privilege is nurturing their minds for the future. Elise Strachan wouldn't you agree? Thanks Social Enterprise Australia for giving me this privilege. As #inclusion starts with being able to afford a ticket, amiright?? Pictures of women apparently still sell better, even on LinkedIn. So if I want to be heard, I have to use my #hayu red lips provided by #primeville ?

Shout-out of appreciation to our partner and Unnati Champion Kriti Goyal, Founder of SewDen, for unlocking upskilling-to-work-from-home opportunities for women. See what Kriti has to say about partnering with Unnati! The partnership story: Some women enrolled at Unnati Skill Development Centre were keen to learn a skill they could do across their life course and independent of location, that could also help them generate income at their pace, on their time. Enter SewDen - a women-led enterprise already providing employment opportunities to over 40 women pan-India working from the comfort of their homes. SewDen crochet experts make and sell customized, sustainable, and eco-friendly toys, each one made with skill and love. With Unnati, SewDen created its first online crochet course pilot. More on the results of this pilot to come soon! When we listen to what women want, we can better identify partners like SewDen that are a perfect match for women's interest and needs. Huge thanks to SewDen and Kriti for co-creating this pilot program, bringing skilling and work to women.

Ep 11: Sinmisola Nojimu-Yusuf My Inspiring Women of 2024 Series This week's spotlight in my "Inspiring Women of 2024 Series" shines on Sinmisola Nojimu-Yusuf. I went to university with Sinmisola - different departments, and different course paths. We also lived in the same neighbourhood and our families attended the same neighbourhood fellowship. From afar, she was always the big dreamer, poised and excellent executor. She is someone who I saw actively building a brighter future for herself and countless others. I have understudied and followed Sinmisola closely for a while and I must say that she has created a path that is a testament to the power of intentionality. From strategic career moves to continuous learning, she champions taking control of your development. Here are some personal and very interesting takeaways from being inspired by Sinmisola over time: ✍ Seek Continuous Exposure: Growth doesn't happen in a vacuum. Expose yourself to new ideas, experiences, and people who challenge and inspire you. Travel, read, take online courses, and curate your social media to be a source of positive influence. She is surrounded by people who are at the pinnacle of their journeys. ✍ Take Advantage of Opportunities: Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. When opportunities arise, be prepared to seize them and showcase your skills. ✍ Embrace Responsibility: We all have a role to play in shaping our communities and the world around us. Don't wait for someone else to take action – identify an issue you care about and find ways, big or small, to make a difference. ✍ Excellence is a Habit: Success isn't just about reaching the top, it's about the journey. Strive for excellence in everything you do, from your daily work to your interactions. What are some of your personal development goals and tips? Please share with us in the comments below! #PersonalDevelopment #EmpoweredWomen #GrowthMindset #SinmisolaNojimuYusuf #InspiringWomen #2024

I founded Better Women Better World (BW2CLUB) with a strong belief in our collective responsibility to uplift and support women's and girls' growth, both personally and professionally. This conviction was born from my own personal and professional experiences, fighting against obstacles while pursuing my dreams in a small country like Macedonia. Networking with international communities has helped me realize that digitalization knows no boundaries, and no matter where we come from, we can always build our international community thanks to the perks of technology. I learned that there's an incredible power of a multicultural community that fosters dreams and transforms them into reality through mutual support, empathy, and collaboration. At the core of Better Women Better World lies the essence of this vision. It serves as a platform where women and girls from different backgrounds can not only acknowledge the importance of these values but also put them into practice. Undoubtedly, we are influenced by our surroundings. Thus, it's crucial to build communities that inspire and elevate us, fostering personal growth and empowerment. However, our impact can only grow with the expansion of our community. That's why WE NEED YOUR HELP. Spread the word to your girlfriends, sisters, mothers, daughters, women's organizations, and female colleagues. Invite them to join our community and together, let's create a lasting impact. Joining BW2CLUB is absolutely free! Scan the QR code below to explore our web platform and discover our iOS and Android apps. Let's build our empowering community together! 🌟

Peer mentorship among women in tech is a powerful way to foster growth, build confidence, and create a strong sense of community. Unlike traditional mentorship, peer mentorship thrives on mutual support—offering a space where experiences are shared, challenges are validated, and solutions are co-created. It’s about uplifting each other, celebrating wins, and learning together. To build meaningful peer mentoring relationships, start by identifying trusted colleagues or connections who share similar goals or challenges. Schedule regular check-ins, create a safe space for honest conversations, and be intentional about listening, sharing insights, and holding each other accountable. When women support women in this way, we don’t just grow individually—we create a network of strength and collaboration that helps everyone rise. Much Love! -5xminority #WomenInTech #PeerMentorship #WomenSupportingWomen #TechLeadership

As 2024 comes to a close, I can’t help but get excited about what lies ahead in 2025! It’s a year I’m stepping into with clarity, intention, and a heart set on making meaningful impact. In 2025, I’m looking forward to taking on more social impact #projects that address real challenges in communities. Whether it's through advocacy, education, or collaborations, I’m committed to driving initiatives that create measurable change. This goes beyond my work with girls and women—it's about empowering more people, amplifying more voices, and transforming lives where it matters most. That said, my dedication to empowering young girls and women remains unwavering. Next year, I’ll be expanding my reach through storytelling, workshops, and programs that provide tools, knowledge, and confidence to those who need it most. My focus is on creating more spaces where voices are heard, lives are empowered, and change becomes tangible. I'm looking forward to launching initiatives that spark meaningful conversations around #genderbasedviolence, education, and the power of intentional living. The goal? To inspire action, break stereotypes, and encourage healthier, more inclusive communities. In all, I want 2025 to be a year where I show up with intention - whether it’s through sharing insights, collaborating with like-minded people, or creating spaces that spark conversations and action. My goal is to make every post, every project, and every initiative meaningful and valuable to you and the communities we serve. 2025 is the year of greater social impact—pushing boundaries, scaling ideas, and creating change that matters. If you have any project in line with #socialimpact, #advocacy, or #education that you’d like to bring to life, I would be more than excited to take it on! Let’s work together to create meaningful change. #goals #socialimpact #CommunityChange #projectmanagement

I am a girl dad. I also happen to grow up with a pack of wolves — all brothers. My perspective is different as an Afro-Latino Founder and CEO. My mom was a professional house cleaner and dad a machinist. I feel things differently. I know when I have been denied access and I also know when I have been provided access. It is my position that deep personal growth is in providing others access. Access to a network, access to voting, access to healthcare, access to community, access to being part of a startup, access to individual and personal growth in an amazing job, etc My gratitude is in working with Elizabeth Kazemi, MHRM, MBA, Leigh Alcott, and Ed Escobar in us working together to provide access to impacted employees in transition. We are wired differently and also communicate as such. When impacted employees loose their jobs, they lose access. They loose access to compensation, access to a colleague’s perspective, access to their community, or even access to themselves in not being able to express how they feel not working everyday. My gratitude today is not to just celebrate a day of celebration of a group of women, but to celebrate a team that is invested in providing men, women and non-binary access to find their next role. Our company, Respiris, re-inspires. Our daughter’s name is embedded in the last four letters of the company name — IRIS. The word Iris also represents something different in art, literature, anatomy, botany and Greek Mythology. At Respiris, we don’t inspire as Iris reminded me when I founded the company. People have been inpired before. I hope today that we can reflect on how we can continue to provide access to others. Some examples: 📍Making an introduction for women in transition (next role, promotion, board, etc) 📍Allowing women to invest in a Seed, Series A Round (and reaching out) 📍Moving your standup meeting to 10:00 am so men and women can drop off their kid at school 📍Revisiting your company values to ensure women are valued equally 📍Check in and asking if you are creating a space where everyone can do their best work. It’s a great day to have gratitude and continue to support girls becoming women one day. It is also a good day to remind ourselves that access requires reflection. #access #women #startups
