Only well managed organisations who have tech stack can understand it.
I saw a job post today from a very renowned company. The job post's title was 'Senior UI/UX Designer.' However, upon examining the job description, none of the listed responsibilities were related to UI/UX design. The fun fact is most of company doesn't really know about the UI/UX itself and why they need it. They expect UI/UX designer also take responsibility in coding. Let me tell you a bit UX is focus on understanding user for what they really need by doing a lot research, testing, and observing. If you need a UI/UX to do the coding thing, please ask for frontend or fullstack developer not us. Because it doesnt make sense except you want to pay more.. #uiuxdesign #jobtitle #jobdescription #UIDesigner #Hiring #DesignJobs #CareerOpportunity

As you may know, I’m #jobseeking. This job description cracked me up. "UX / UI Mobile Designer." Okay, already that’s a lot of things going on. This is a mobile specific UX role? Pardon me, UX / UI role. "Remote role." Great. "LONGTERM." Great! "PURELY UI/UX DESIGNER ROLES." *Squints* Hmm. Well, they flipped the order, so is it more UI than UX? And… 'purely' UX/UI! Okay, hmm, I wonder what that means… so, no other tech activities like project management or coding or BA work? Okay, great, I guess! The first four bullets look pretty good! Proven experience in UX/UI, strong understanding of user centered design principles, ability to collaborate, knowledge of interaction design. And then we get to the 5th and 6th bullets: - "Experience with Angular or similar front-end development frameworks is desired" - "Ability to provide working code and proof of concepts to collaborate effectively with the engineering team and demonstrate design concepts." *Squint returns, intensified*. Huh, it looks like they want someone who can write code. Did I read that right? Provide working code and.. proof of concepts, to collaborate with the engineering team and demonstrate design concepts… At this point I shrugged internally, shook my head, took a screenshot, and moved on. This company clearly hasn’t ironed out what they’re really looking for, and if they have, they’re looking for a unicorn — and that isn’t me! Those roles exist and are super cool, but should be advertised (and paid) as such. But this specific role dropping the phrase (in all caps, no less) “PURELY UI/UX” and then sneaking bullets 5 and 6 in there, gave me a good little chuckle. What other so close, but so far job descriptions have you seen? #UXDesigner #UIDesigner #JobSeeking #UXUI #DesignJobs #TechRecruitment #JobHumor #JobSearch #DesignLife #TechRoles #UserExperience #UserInterface #UXUIJobs #DesignerLife #DesignCommunity #TechWorld #DesignHumor

Hello everyone! I'm Favour, a front-end developer/UX designer passionate about creating user-centered experiences. This is my first post and I'm excited to finally join the LinkedIn community and share my thoughts and learnings with all of you! To start, I wanted to share a recent lightbulb moment: I've been living a double life as a frontend dev and UX designer, but a few days ago, I discovered that there's a name for this crossover role - UI/UX Engineer! I've been scrolling through job sites for ages, seeing "UX Engineer" pop up and thinking, "Hmm, probably just a fancy way to make UI/UX sound more complicated than it already is." I'd dismiss it, thinking it wasn't my cup of tea. Then one day, I actually read through a job description on Glassdoor and realized, wait a minute, these requirements match my skills! Curiosity piqued, I dug deeper and discovered that UX Engineering is actually a real thing! It's like being a UI/UX designer but with coding superpowers. At least now I finally have something to write on my resume in the job title section. I'm excited to learn more and connect with fellow software developers and UX Engineers out there! P.S.: Forgive my ignorance, everyone, I know it's a rookie mistake, but I'm owning up to it and embracing my newfound knowledge! #UXEngineer #UIUX #frontend #hybridrole #newtoLinkedIn #learning

Senior Verizon UI/UXDevelopoer Experience I interviewed for the Senior UI/UX Developer role at Verizon, which I found to be a really exciting opportunity. The role involves developing component libraries that are used internally across Verizon's products. While I don't have prior experience specifically in building component libraries, I have a strong background in creating reusable components. I'm eager for this opportunity and excited to give it my best shot. Round 1: Recruiter Call A 30-minute conversation where the recruiter discussed my background, the role, and Verizon's team structure. We talked about my experience in front-end development, design systems, and the technology stack. Round 2: Coding Challenge The technical challenge involved coding tasks on a platform like HackerRank. It included: 1. JavaScript problems, such as array manipulation or implementing a utility function like debounce. 2. A React component task where I had to create a reusable component that handled states and was accessible. 3. A CSS task to create a responsive layout using Flexbox or Grid. Round 3: Technical Interview A deep dive into my experience building reusable components and my approach to design systems: 1. I explained how I design flexible and maintainable components. 2. We discussed how to implement theming using CSS variables or design tokens. 3. Focused on accessibility, adding ARIA attributes, and managing keyboard navigation. Round 4: System Design This round focused on UX design systems: 1. I discussed collaboration with designers using tools like Figma or Zeplin. 2. I explained how I apply Atomic Design principles to create reusable components. 3. We also talked about performance optimizations for components in large systems. Result : failed . I expected it as I didn't convey my thoughts clearly to interviewer. But it was very good experience The role focuses on building reusable, scalable components, collaborating with UX designers, and ensuring accessibility and performance. To prepare for frontend interviews I revisied the materials I had created from past experiences and updated them with insights of interviews. If you’re looking for a comprehensive frontend interview preparation kit that includes DSA, JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS interview questions, check out the link in my profile. It will be very helpful for your interview preparation #frontend #interview

Job posts often ask for HTML and CSS skills for UX designer roles. There are 3 reasons why I usually see this happen: 1. Sometimes they want you to have a bit of technical knowledge so you can collaborate with developers more easily and ensure that you build feasible solutions. You don't have to be a coding expert, but it helps with communication. This is a good skill to have. 2. Other times, it's because the person writing the job ad might not fully understand what UX designers do. They just copy-paste what they've seen before. So, it's more of a misunderstanding than a real requirement. 3. And then there are cases where the company is actually looking for a frontend developer. To figure out which situation you're dealing with, you should go through the job description thoroughly and do your own research on the company. I've come across the first two scenarios quite a bit. PS: How do you feel about job posts asking for HTML and CSS skills for UX Designer positions? #ux #uxdesign #jobsearch
