There is a lot of what I would call 'white noise' around at the moment about care management in the home care sector. For over 15years I can confidently say that I have been considered a leader in the case management/care management area. I and the team at LPA have provided training to thousands of case managers about the process, concepts and principles of case management in line with internationally accepted practice. This includes working in Palau, Tonga and with local indigenous providers . We have seen with Home Care Packages a care manager is tasked with approving purchases etc. and this I believe has eroded the professionalism of the role when consumers are refused a request the relationship can often sour very quickly. With the Support at Home changes and a tightening of approved purchases one would hope the value of the role can be elevated. Case (care) managers are often not given the support and training they need to do their role with confidence and some providers have failed to 'market' or promote their excellent care managers and in some cases failed to provide the service in line with the legislation. S@H will introduce basic and complex care management and we are yet to see the final details however I think that Government has listened to stakeholders and we will see a return to the appreciation of the case manager role in home care. Interested in your thoughts. #casemanagement #homecare #caremanagement #supportathome #agedcare

Elderly Care Homes - National Standards, Accreditation & Certification How many Care Homes in India are aware of the various Standards to be followed for running a Senior Living project? Unfortunately due to lack of Nationalized Standards there is still a lot of ambiguity in the Senior Living sector. For the benefit of the larger cause, I am sharing the 2nd Chapter in a series of 15 Chapters on International Operational Guidelines for Senior Citizen Care Homes, which is being developed my me. Chapter 2: is titled "National Standards, Accreditation & Certification" Purpose of this chapter is to define the various procedures and adherences which are documented in the various National Standards, Accreditation & Certification for setting and operating a Senior Citizen Care Home in India so that the residents are safeguarded from any malpractices and are assured of quality care. Sharing a few sub-points from the document: 1) National and State Standards 2) Accreditation & Certification 3) Inspection & Audit 4) Quality Assurance, Quality Control & Performance 5) Fraud and Incident Reporting 6) Health & Safety Audit There are many rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines related to managing a Senior Citizens Care Home, but then I really wonder how many Care Homes have the capacity or trained manpower to actually understand and implement such guidelines. These suggestions are purely in my individual capacity and not of any agency or validation by any Govt department. Hope this helps the larger cause, any feedback or corrections would be appreciated. Walfinch home care offers several benefits compared to traditional care homes: Personalised, One-on-One Care: We provide tailored support that focuses on individual needs, allowing clients to receive dedicated attention and care in the comfort of their own home. Familiar Environment: Clients remain in their familiar surroundings, which helps maintain their sense of identity and comfort, reducing the stress often associated with moving to a care home. Independence and Flexibility: Home care allows individuals to maintain their daily routines and independence. Services can be adjusted as needs change, ensuring that care evolves with the client. Better Health Outcomes: Studies show that home care can lead to improved well-being and lower hospital admission rates compared to care homes, as clients benefit from personalised, consistent care. Community Connections: Clients can stay connected to their family, friends, and community, which is crucial for emotional support and social interaction. Cost-Effectiveness: Home care is often a more affordable option than care homes, allowing families to receive quality care without the financial burden associated with residential facilities. Home health services provide skilled medical care and therapy to individuals in the comfort of their homes, addressing critical health needs for those unable to access clinics or hospitals. These services, typically ordered by a physician or after a hospital stay, aim to improve patients' independence and quality of life. At Blount Memorial Hospital Home Services, a multidisciplinary team including skilled nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech therapists, and social workers collaborates to manage a range of medical conditions. Nurses focus on disease management, specialized wound care, and medication oversight. Therapists help improve strength, mobility, and cognitive health, utilizing programs like the Brain Health Enrichment Program for neurological recovery. Medical social workers connect families to vital community resources. Unlike personal care agencies, home health services are often covered by insurance for short-term, medically necessary care. By empowering patients and involving families, home health promotes independence, safety, and a higher quality of life. Our team supports healthcare entities in sustaining operations by implementing effective revenue cycle management processes, streamlining workflows, and ensuring compliance with payer requirements. We collaborate to optimize resource utilization, enhance patient care delivery, and provide training and tools that promote financial stability and operational efficiency for long-term success. Cliniqon is committed to delivering Guaranteed Quality, Ensured Compliance, and Unparalleled Outcomes in Home Health and Hospice agencies. #HomeHealthServices #HospiceCare #FrontEndServices #BackOfficeSolutions #HealthcareManagement #RevenueCycleManagement #HealthcareCompliance #PatientSupport #CareCoordination #MedicalBilling #ClaimsManagement #PatientEngagement #HealthcareOutsourcing #MedicalCoding #ProviderSupport #CliniqonCare #HealthcareSolutions #PatientCareExcellence #HomeHealthRCM #HospiceBilling The Daily Times
