The Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA) Homeland Security and Emergency Communications Committee is sponsoring a virtual seminar on Tuesday, October 15 from 2-4pm ET entitled, “The NG911 Transition: The FCC’s Nationwide Framework.” The FCC recently adopted the first nationwide Next Generation 911 (NG911) transition rules that define the responsibilities and set deadlines for originating service providers (OSPs) to implement NG911 capabilities on their networks and deliver 911 calls to NG911 systems. The FCC has said that these new rules will expedite the nationwide transition to NG911, lead to faster call delivery and improved service reliability, and save lives. This seminar will review the FCC’s new rules, the next steps for OSPs and public safety entities, and outstanding technical and legal issues. Representatives from the FCC, public safety community, and service providers are invited to participate.
