Today is International Museum Day! The objective of this day is to raise awareness that museums are an important means of cultural exchange and enrichment, as well as development of mutual understanding, cooperation, and peace. International Museum Day fosters global connections through shared celebrations. Museums around the world are hosting events, free admissions, workshops, and interactive tours to engage the public--designed to draw in diverse audiences and offer them insights into cultures other than their own. At Marx|Okubo we understand the value that art, creative, and event spaces bring to all communities—and to the built environment. And it is a privilege for us to work with some of the most renowned museums. During each project, we continue to ask one key question: How can we help these meaningful community spaces thrive for generations to come? Assessing and solving for historic or public atmospheres that may house fragile collections or thousands of people means understanding and addressing both form and function. Today we celebrate these special places and the opportunities to help our arts, culture, and entertainment clients preserve and promote these vital, sensitive, and crucial spaces. https://lnkd.in/gXD9WP5F #internationalmuseumday #marxokubo #museums #aecconsultants #realestate #architecture #construction

🌱 Did you know? The Musée du Louvre's switch to LED lighting not only preserved their priceless artworks better but also slashed their energy consumption by 73%! Art isn't just about what we see on the walls – it's about the very air we breathe while experiencing it. Leading museums worldwide are revolutionizing how we think about exhibition spaces. 💚 The Tate Modern's innovative climate control systems now use 40% less energy while maintaining perfect conditions for both artworks and visitors. Meanwhile, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam has transformed its roof into a living garden, naturally regulating temperature and creating a habitat for urban wildlife. 🦋 But it's not just about energy – the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas uses harvested rainwater for its gorgeous water features, while Singapore's ArtScience Museum's exterior petals channel rainwater for restroom use. ♻️ These changes don't just help Earth – they make visiting #art more enjoyable. Better air, natural light, and fresher spaces mean you can focus on what matters: the art! What's your local gallery or museum doing to become more sustainable? Share their initiatives below! 🎨 #SustainableArt #GreenMuseums #ArtInnovation #Sustainability #CulturalSpaces #CleanEnergy #ArtistCommunity #MuseumInnovation

Great chat about art making, technology, and museums at day two of the Fast Company Innovation Festival. Dooeun Choi's thoughts on the power of art to connect people, and provide moments of reflection in our over-saturated information world, is aligned with how Art Processors approaches our experiential work. The phenomenology of a good visitor experience is when an environment combines the lasting power of emotion with tangible evidence. The evocative leverages the literal to allow for simultaneous transcendence and grounding. Or something like that 😉. What I know for sure is that art makes the world a better place, technology gives us hope for the future, and museums preserve these gifts to share them with the world. You may have noticed that research conducted by Mauritshuis in the Netherlands has sparked significant interest and discussion on social media. If you haven't, researchers tracked the eye movements and brain activity of 20 volunteers as they observed five original artworks and their poster versions. The study found that viewing real art in a museum has 10 times the impact on the human brain than viewing reproductions. From an #inclusivity and #diversity perspective, however, we think several factors remain unexplored and that other aspects of the artwork, rather than its authenticity, explain the differences in engagement. From the LA Times The temperature inside these L.A. museums is changing. Why that’s a win for climate action The Hammer Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles will be among the institutions taking part in the Climate Impact Program. The program aims to encourage galleries and institutions to minimize their environmental impacts by providing tools to achieve “climate fluency.” Some participating museums are rethinking how they could relax typical climate control standards in exhibition spaces to preserve energy. https://lnkd.in/g7waCZ6Z

// "Museums must fully play their role in the ecological debate" // Today sustainability was a core subject at CTA in paris. An article from the French newspaper Le Monde (17. December 2023) was the kick of for the day. 🌱 Faced with climate change and at the end of COP28 museums, institutions anchored in the life of the city, are at a turning point in their history, forced to reinvent their modes of action. Reducing the museum's carbon footprint becomes essential. This subject has an impact on conservation standards, the travel of staff and visitors etc. Beyond that, it is essential to question the spirit of the place: what is a museum? What bases and validates its public action? What can be its contribution to ecological issues? 🏛️🌍 Read the article here and comment what your opinion is! https://lnkd.in/eszZRb82 #sustainability #museums #cta28 #CTAParis
