You might be curious to know your bodyfat % You might even think it is an essential measurement to know Or something to wear like a badge of honour The truth is For 99.9% of people It's pretty useless For a number of reasons 1️⃣ It's extremely hard to accurately measure And don't even get me started on the 'Smart Scales' (They're just a gimmick to get you to spend more money) Unless you have access to lab facilities, you'll be guessing, at best 2️⃣ It doesn't really mean anything You could be 8%, 18% or 80% and it doesn't mean a huge amount in and of itself OK, so if you're 80%, you are going to be morbidly obese & need some serious changes But you'd know that without having an accurate reading of the exact BF% 3️⃣ It's a focus that is taking away from other, arguably more important, metrics You'll get much more use knowing how much you weigh, how well you're performing, your body measurements, your pictures, your energy levels... To name just a few things that are going to be much more useful than your bodyfat levels To cap it all off Most people significantly under estimate their bodyfat levels Likely from being a little proud (or embarrassed) about the actual situation But As I said It really doesn't matter very much at all Put that focus, energy & attention into something that will take you much closer to where you want to be And don't worry about those percentages
