My earliest memory of computers involved #programming fractals in BASIC on our home x86 computer – Sierpenski triangles, Pythagoras trees, Mandelbrot sets. My dad would give me print-outs of programs to type into the computer and then I'd experiment with tweaking variables to change the output, such as the colors and numbers of iterations. From there, I was dialing up over a 9600 baud modem to play games rendered in ASCII on early internet message boards. It wasn’t long before I was my elementary school teachers’ go-to person for #tech support for the single PC in the back of the classroom.
