The ReadyLaunch Grant application submissions are closed! We support all #female-identifying, non-binary persons and those individuals affected by #gender-related issues in the realm of design with funding and mentorship. Unfortunately, the world is still at a point where this support is critically needed. According to UN estimates, it will take us another 131 years to reach full parity. #Discrimination and #prejudice remain rampant: in 77 countries, discriminatory laws criminalize even private same-sex relationships, putting people at risk of arrest, prosecution, imprisonment, and, in at least five countries, the death penalty. This issue needs no justification.
So, we received over 700 submissions, and faced a month of reviewing applications, voting, and making selections. The process has been exciting, though it's sad that we couldn't support everyone. But there's also joy. Creativity and the sacred are alive, and Love (i.e. Logos), despite obstacles, continues to flourish, leading to new educational projects, companies, spaces, communities, and a confident, persistent voice advocating for the freedom to be and to choose whom to love.
Notably, we closed the grant at the beginning of June, #PrideMonth. For me, it began with a personal stand against #homophobia and the degradation of human dignity (which was another reminder that the problem goes beyond mere statistics). While it's disheartening that this is our reality, it's also reassuring and proud to feel that we have the strength to fight for what we believe in.
We will announce the grant winners later this week. Projects will be implemented by October. Subscribe, follow along, and stay tuned!
And, of course, love and freedom to all of you! After all, that's what this is all about ❤️
