Turning Ideas Into Reality: Collaboration in Action! Recently, I had the privilege of collaborating with Caitlin Easson, a talented design student, to bring an incredible concept to life—a modular acoustic panel crafted from hempcrete. What started as a vision evolved into a functional, sustainable product, blending innovation with practicality. The project was more than just an exploration of material properties like sound absorption and biophilic design. It was a journey of experimentation—refining moulding techniques, testing Geobind’s magnesium binder, and imagining new applications for hempcrete in interior design. Through this collaboration, Caitlin merged aesthetics and function into a product that’s both beautiful and impactful. Caitlin shared a bold vision for the future of hempcrete: “There is potential to explore a diverse range of designs and applications, from lighter hollow-back panels to integrating plant growth for unique green walls. By promoting biophilic design, we can create healthier, more sustainable spaces that bring nature indoors.” Her ideas speak to the heart of what we do—building for both people and the planet. This collaboration was a reminder of the transformative power of shared creativity. It’s moments like these that drive Geobind Limited’s mission to redefine what’s possible in sustainable building systems. [ Final Poster Research Method ] 05/07/2024 Dear Connections, I'm excited to share that my team and I have completed our research on "Waste to Wealth: Innovative Furniture Design Using Upcycled and Repurposed Materials." Our objectives were to investigate the intersection of upcycling furniture, sustainability, creativity, and user preferences. We aimed to identify strategies to promote sustainable design practices in the furniture industry. The main problem we addressed is the environmental impact of traditional furniture production, which often relies on non-renewable resources and contributes to waste. Our research highlights the potential of using upcycled materials to create functional and aesthetically pleasing furniture, thereby reducing waste and promoting environmental conservation. For this task, each individual are required to design the infographic poster based on our research, so I carefully selecting the template, color scheme and balancing the amount of wording and graphic to align with the theme of sustainability and environmental consciousness. Sneak peek of new lamp CORKA In the summer of ‘23 we were asked by ZeroLighting to design a ‘really environmentally friendly’ pendant. The first thoughts were to determine the ideal characteristics: • Made from a single material • Produced using a single manufacturing process • Uses natural, renewable materials • Ideally biodegradable • Compact and affordable • Just large enough to neatly house standardised components (E27 bulb, bulb holder, cable grip) CORKA launches next week at the Stockholm furniture fair as part of the 2025 design week.
