Amazon’s warehouse jobs have a mixed reputation — turnover rates are high, the physical nature of the work is tiring, and injuries aren’t uncommon — but positions are easy to get, even for those with a criminal record, no degree, or limited work experience. The warehouse jobs have rightly earned a rough reputation, but they're easy to get, and they do have certain advantages — here's what the jobs entail and how much they pay.

I went from working in fulfillment to working with fulfillment. In March of 2022, I took a job at a new Amazon Fulfillment Centre in my hometown of Hamilton, Ontario. I couldn’t have known then how transformative that one choice would become. Many people view a role in an Amazon FC as temporary—a stopgap between jobs, a summer gig during school, or a last-ditch effort for work. I fell into that last category. After three years of unemployment, I was tired of being stuck at home and needed something—anything—to get moving again. To spare the extra details, working in fulfillment isn’t always personally fulfilling. Those who know me know I’m driven by two main things: technology and helping people. Life as an FC associate had little of either, and it was also physically taxing. However, through two and a half years in that FC, I learned a lot—about myself, about others, and about the value of hard work. But I also learned something critical: working in a warehouse wasn’t for me. Thankfully, about a year ago, I got in touch with an incredible IT manager out in BC, Luke Antrim. While he didn’t have openings at the time, he encouraged me to stay in touch and promised to let me know as soon as an opportunity came up. This summer, that very thing happened. My skills, combined with my alignment with Amazon’s Leadership Principles, helped me rise to the top of the candidate pool. I accepted the new role with enthusiasm and moved across the country to Metro Vancouver—a significant step but one that was well-deserved and much-needed. Now, instead of waking up each day in pain from the previous day’s work, I wake up excited to open my computer and help the fantastic Amazonians I get to interact with every day. I even look forward to heading into the office—for the human connection, the change of scenery, and the (minimal, but meaningful) amenities. I’ve gone from working in a Fulfillment Centre to finding personal fulfillment, and now I’m passionate about helping others achieve the same transformation. Amazon axed more than 100 customer service managers in CEO Andy Jassy’s latest job cuts - this is very bad. Why? I would say Amazon has some of the work customer services for SELLERS I've ever experienced. I urge Amazon should be hiring 1000+ Customer Service managers that are (((((((((US based)))))))). Not a dig out outsourcing, we outsource. The article doesn't make clear which type of customer service manager is being cut (sellers or customer centric). But they article states middle management. Why is Amazon customer service for sellers broken? 1. Too much outsourcing 2. Too complicated for overseas newbies - the backend platform is complicated 3. Lack of training - not enough time training 4. Lack of follow up on case - cases go dark and are followed up with canned responses. 5. Too many layers - creating a maze effect 6. Lack of Tools for all levels of customer service agents. This is just another sign of Amazon's disregard on focusing on important areas within the Amazon 3P community. https://lnkd.in/etjGEacS
