The AAG has joined its partners at the Coalition for Outdoor Renaming & Education (CORE), signing onto its letter urging Secretary Deb Haaland to implement the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Reconciliation in Place Names (ACRPN). CORE commended the leadership exhibited by the ACRPN and the Secretary. CORE also calls for the USGS Board on Geographic Names to enact the ACRPN's recommendations for creating greater transparency in review processes and frameworks. The AAG and its partners are confident that future work on this issue will move further toward a greater vision of American places for all. The results are in…and next week we’ll announce the winner of the Great Colleague of the Year. The winner joins a select group of previous winners. Regardless of the actual winner, all the nominees richly deserve to be in the mix - all have gone above and beyond what was expected of them. This initiative reinforces then need for ongoing recognition, appreciation and praise…a few words, recognising the input and contribution of others, costs nothing but creates something very special. It aligns with the concept of leaders as changemakers, service and the concept of servant leadership….all of which are important to me. Finally, a shout out to my own team - the People Team - without whom this exercise wouldn’t have happened.
