Shout out to Scale Venture Partners for last week’s GTM Summit. The Pipeline & DemandGen Council was time well spent. A “we’re all in this together” sense of camaraderie, sharing struggles and hot-buttons, generating ideas and cross-pollinating strategies and tactics to test. I’ll blatantly plagiarize David Dulany of Tenbound - he nicely summed up one of the presentations with this comment: Especially interesting was a presentation by Scale VC's on the current effects of the macro economy on the start-up ecosystem. Short answer- it's brutal out there. You can play around with the benchmarks here https://lnkd.in/gme76SR2 It's a "back to basics" year in B2B: - Invest in your ICP - Visibility into what’s happening is just as important as making it happen - Analyze what’s happening and find the patterns - If Marketing & Sales aren’t aligned… don’t expect good things to happen

Last week, I attended the TechCrunch Annual Founders Summit in #Boston, and it was an enlightening experience. Meeting other founders provided a unique environment to exchange insights and support one another through our entrepreneurial journeys. Many of the speakers also delivered invaluable wisdom across different stages of a founder’s journey: Jess Lee offered a comprehensive framework for assessing product-market fit and crafting compelling value propositions for different types of markets. Edith Yeung provided a crash course on leveraging our online presence and branding to attract investors, customers and partners. Lily Lyman taught us how to approach investor conversations when building relationships vs raising funds. Jake Cohen shared candid advice on how to grow a venture without VC funding, or to do so in a way that keeps the founding team and its employees set for long-term success. Sara Choi emphasized the importance of conducting due diligence on the individual we pitch to, and not just the firm they represent. Daniel Kang outlined strategies to help founders optimize their cash flow and maintain financial prudence. Rudina Seseri shared insights on founders’ journey to validating product-market fit and scaling to $1M ARR after closing their seed round. Special thanks to the people I met at the Summit! Ryan Stohl Anoushka Ramkumar Justina Samanta Akhil Daphara Daniel R. Shaurjya Mandal Cloey Wong Aaron Joshua Pinto

Team8 Partner, Galia Beer-Gabel, recently moderated the 'Nuts and Bolts of Building a Business' panel during London Tech Week. She was joined on stage by Tom Bohills, Founder at Founders Law, Gerard Grech, Managing Director at Founders at the University of Cambridge, and Chris Woodward-Jones, Co-Founder at VIZZY. The key takeaway of the panel? It's all about the people across the board. Successful startups thrive when co-founders have complementary skills, resilience, synergy, and unwavering trust. Founders should also surround themselves with early employees who are deeply committed to the mission. And when selecting investors, they must align with your purpose and bring strategic value to the table. 💬 What do you think are the essential qualities in a founder or early-stage employee? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗶’𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 On December 4, 2020, one tweet changed everything: “How can I help?” Mayor Francis X. Suarez’s now-iconic words lit a spark that ignited a movement—one that would redefine Miami’s place on the global stage. Shortly after being appointed to co-create Venture Miami, I took this picture—a quiet moment that captured the energy of what we were about to build. I remember Day 1 of this effort watching Kevin Ruiz lug his computer monitor into the office, Keith A. Carswell & Nikolas Pascual readying city hall for this motley crew, Jeremy Schwarz JD/PhD thinking about all of the macros of policy, Otto Boudet figuring ways for us to get the impossible done, Melissa Krinzman stepping into serve as the first VC in residence at a city, Adi Shoshani thinking about storytelling, and of course Michael Sarasti with the white boarding and KPIs. Since then, thousands of founders, investors, and builders—have brought their own spark to Miami. These are the people who have chosen to make Miami their launchpad, their headquarters, their home. And to think, we are only in month 48 of this endeavor to reimagine/reposition Miami and Florida as a globally ranked financial center, a beacon for venture capital, and a hub for tech talent & solutions building. • 👩💻 A thriving tech community has formed, clustering the talent needed to solve the world’s hardest problems. • 🎓 Our universities and global institutions have leaned in, shaping the next generation of talent and innovation. • 🌱 New domains like clean technology, defense, and dual-use tech are gaining momentum, positioning Miami in emerging industries. What made this possible wasn’t just the policy or strategy—it was people. A community of builders who raised their hands to say, “I’m in.” And the shared belief that we are better when we build together. I think of folks like Melissa Medina Antonio Delgado Fornaguera Brian Breslin Gianni D'Alerta 🔮 Francesca de Quesada Covey Caryn Lavernia Maria Escorcia Raul Moas Soledad Cedro Felice Gorordo Leigh-Ann Buchanan, Esq. and countless others. (Pls tag!!) So here’s my question for you: What role will you play in shaping Miami’s future? 🌴🚀
