5 for the Future: Building a Stronger Muscatine County! Did you know that over $331 million is expected to be transferred from Muscatine County estates in the next 10 years? Thanks to the new "5 for the Future" initiative by Iowa Community Foundations, a portion of those funds could be reinvested right here in our community! What is 5 for the Future? It's a program that encourages individuals to donate just 5% of their estates to their local community foundation. In Muscatine County's case, 5% of that $331 million translates to over $16.5 million! Planned legacy giving can help protect, grow, and spread resources that may otherwise lose roots. As I work to aid Charitable children institutions in transitioning towards family and community care, I often come across organizations dealing with children aging out of the care system. These children often lack independent living skills and encounter numerous obstacles, sometimes without supportive community networks. It's disheartening that they have to leave the system without the support and love of a family. Facilitating the search for suitable families for these children is crucial in ensuring their continued growth and well-being beyond institutional care. #carereform #familycare

It’s an unfortunate reality that domestic abuse happens within our country. It’s even more sad to realize that it happens so often that there are large nonprofits that take care of family members in these situations. Safe Harbor in Greenville “provides pathways for people impacted by domestic abuse to survive and thrive, and raises awareness of domestic abuse through community engagement and education.” Their services include a 24 hour hotline, emergency shelters, transitional housing, counseling, case management, and much more. There are quite a few ways you can get involved. You can donate in terms of money but you can also donate standard living items like kitchen or household goods, diapers and clothing for children, school supplies, and other needs. You can also volunteer to help carry out the vision of Safe Harbor. Consider helping families be free from the constraints of abuse. #greenville #volunteer #nonprofit

How aware are you of diaper need in our Native American communities? According to the Annie E. Casey Foundation, 30% of Native American families across the United States experience significant diaper need. In 2024, approximately 18% of families served by Babies of Homelessness had Native American household members. When you donate to BoH, we can leverage each dollar to purchase diapers at a steep discount, so each dollar goes much further. Please consider Babies of Homelessness for your end of year giving, for a diaper drive, or for donating diapers and formula, today. The need is now. Give today at https://lnkd.in/g-cc7WjA.

Less than a week has passed and we're staring at another storm approaching the very same region. One of the ways to ensure emergency response orgs are able to meet communities where they are, at a moment's notice, is to become a monthly donor. Yes, even $5 a month helps an organization have sustained impact. Whether you give to Feeding America or another organization of your choice, please always consider breaking down that larger one-time gift into smaller monthly installments. https://lnkd.in/gj_xX4eb For disaster-specific donations: https://lnkd.in/gzVBP9V3
