The Venus Stargazer M4 hypersonic jet, developed by Venus Aerospace in collaboration with Velontra, is set to revolutionize air travel with its first test flight scheduled for 2025! Stargazer M4 aims to reach Mach 6 (3,600 mph) at an altitude of 170,000 feet, cutting #London to #NewYork travel to just 1 hour! But what does this mean for us? At such altitudes, the human body faces extreme G-forces and low-oxygen conditions, demanding excellent physical health for pilots and passengers alike. Prolonged exposure to these speeds and altitudes could increase stress on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, posing a risk to those not in top health. It’s not just luxury, but a health requirement. The cost is another challenge—flights could initially cost millions per trip, making it viable only for high-net-worth individuals and businesses. Add to that, the regulatory and safety certification process for hypersonic travel could take years to finalize, meaning this technology won't become widespread in the near future. While it promises a breakthrough in speed and efficiency, hypersonic travel might not be suitable for the average traveler for quite some time.

There is no specific description of the Lazzarini Deside, but there is a concept of a flying car Aircar, proposed by the Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini.    Aircar is a 4×4 jet, 6 meters long, designed for one pilot and three passengers.    It has an ultra-light carbon monocoque, into which four rotating Rolls-Royce jet engines are integrated.  A unique feature of the Aircar is that each of the four engines can independently adjust its tilt and rotation.    This ensures stability and high maneuverability when turning.  The maximum speed of the Aircar is 750 km / h, and the autonomy is 1200 kilometers on jet fuel. For now, the Aircar remains a concept, but Lazzarini aims to build the first full-scale prototype by 2024.  

What’s Aristotle got to do with it? Flying boats have played a pivotal role in aerospace since the dawn of aviation. These amazing machines provide a versatile means of transportation connecting water-based communities that would take significant time to link by boat or car. With the advent of electric propulsion, we anticipate that the resurgence of amphibious aviation could reshape the industry, which is why I believe it is important that industry stakeholders come together to discuss how we can effectively work together to collectively ensure growth and success. As Aristotle reputedly said: “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” Collaboration, co-operation and co-opetition are key ingredients for our joint success. We need to raise our sector’s profile. We need to discuss what customers want, what infrastructure for amphibious aviation looks like, what will propel us, how it can integrate more efficiently with air transport networks and how we can attract more investment to this proven concept.  Like any new evolution, it’s going to have pain points, but when we have platforms such as the Future Opportunities for Seaplanes and Amphibious Aviation events to support us, we should all be embracing the opportunity to support them as we come together and discuss how we can ensure a strengthened future.
