The Orbiter 3 is a small tactical unmanned aerial system, recognized as one of the top systems in its class worldwide. It is highly valued for its superior performance in both defense and HLS applications, making it a crucial asset for modern military operations. The system is distinguished by its advanced Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) capabilities, which are essential for effective battlefield awareness and decision-making. One of the key advantages of the Orbiter 3 is its ability to operate independently of runways, combined with its long endurance and capacity to carry a variety of payloads. These features, along with advanced image processing and the ability to navigate in GPS-denied environments, provide exceptional operational flexibility. We, as humans, are the main defense tech product to invest in.” - Sergiy Koshman Whatever your thoughts on #Ukraine this simple notion is at the crux of a major inflection point we face domestically. We are dangerously close, despite all of the maxims…. “humans over hardware,” and the like, of all but neglecting the human element in the evolution of statecraft, conflict and capacity building. Where should we see the most excitement and innovation right now? All eyes, funds and efforts are on #AI, #CUAS etc…. Important but… we should have the same fervor, quantity of conferences and capital behind rethinking irregular warfare and what it means from doctrinal, social and practitioner perspectives. We should be making advancements and adaptations to Foreign Area Officer, Civil Affairs and Psyops training pipelines. We should reimagine how academics, practitioners and civil society interact and collaborate around information literacy and around how to engage and leverage civil society, informal networks and resource communities as critical facets of our national security apparatus….. 🎤 Dennis Dell'Ara - Algorithm Developer at e-GEOS - attended the final demo of the #AI4DEF project, funded by the European Commission as part of the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (#EDIDP). 🛡️ The project is set up to pave the way for accelerated development and application of #AI within #Defence, to maintain European sovereignty and excellence. The consortium - formed by 21 partners from 10 European countries - worked on four use cases in different domains, from #sea to #land and #sky. 🛰️ Within AI4DEF, e-GEOS provided essential contributions at different stages of the project: from study, to design, prototype realisation and testing, including the implementation of techniques for #Ship Detection and Ship Classification.
