Monday morning. 9:00 AM It is strategic plan day. I only have one meeting with a potential new consultant today. So I get to spend most of the day on a strategic plan. We are on week 15 of this plan and it's really shaping up. We're close. We're, I think I could say safely that we're in the home stretch. Umm. We This is an urban park conservation group in Nashville. As a result of this plan, I would say that they have effectively shifted their identity from a park improvement organization. They were project coordinators of a lot of things to support a park to now one that activates neighbors to make changes. Some pretty significant changes to increase utilization of the park. They want to see their community, a wider range of people in the community using the park. And umm, this is a part of Nashville, where? This change. If that happens, that could really reverse some incredible historic. Racism that has yet to be addressed in Nashville. I'm thinking about Heather Mcgee's amazing work, The Sum of Us and. Her study of the impact of closed swimming pools. This wasn't the whole point of the book, but one one key part that sticks with me. The impact of closed swimming pools and defunded parks departments and the way that that impacted. Not just black people, but white people as well. This is when black people were invited to use swimming pools for the first time, and white people decided they'd rather close the pools than integrate them. And so we saw a huge sweep of pools being closed, parks departments being defunded across the country. Everyone lost in that scenario. Everyone lost. But now we have. Parks departments and investment in parks and investment in environmentalism and investment in creating spaces for public leisure in our country. That are outspokenly available to all. But not utilized by all. And we wonder why. And So what I'm really proud about with this team that I'm working with and their plan is that they want to understand. Why and how to change that? And so there the, the really best part of this plan in my opinion is their commitment to investigating how to change that history through some really thoughtful partnerships that they're building with this plan. So what does that mean for me today? So today I am Ohh, we've done the, the planning part of this plan. We've built the pillars of the plan. We know what the big categories of work are going to be for this plan and how they're going to measure success for the next three years. This week we're talking about the infrastructure to support. That change. And that means their org chart. That means their business model. That means their data and reporting. Plan. And so today I need to prepare my rough draft of these things, infrastructure things to present to them on Wednesday and I need to prepare a way for us to discuss. The org chart, knowing everyone will be in the room, um frontline staff, Executive Director, board members, and I want to make sure that the frontline staff who may be concerned about the way their jobs might change, feel safe to ideate themselves about how they think the org chart could change. Um, so I need to figure out how to facilitate this meeting. Um, so that there's free space to ideate about the org chart specifically?
