HAPS offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional satellites for various applications, including communication, surveillance, and environmental monitoring. With advancements in solar-powered propulsion and lightweight materials, HAPS can stay aloft for months or even years, providing continuous coverage over a specific area. This technology is particularly attractive for remote sensing and telecommunications companies seeking to expand their coverage footprint. The market's growth is fueled by a combination of technological innovation, increasing demand for high-bandwidth communication, and the need for persistent surveillance capabilities. 🛰️📡 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞: AeroVironment Airbus Augur RosAeroSystems Prismatic BAE Systems Thales Ball Corporation Northrop Grumman Corporation HawkEye Systems Parrot Mira Aerospace and other players #HAPS #StratosphericPlatforms #AerialCommunications #PersistentSurveillance #RemoteSensing #AerospaceTechnology #SatelliteAlternatives #HighAltitudePlatforms #InnovationInAerospace #Telecommunications #EnvironmentalMonitoring #AerialCoverage

This paper considers a relay-assisted airborne #free #space #optical (#FSO) system in which serial and parallel relaying are deployed together. The authors deploy relay selection in each hop and select the relay that provides the maximum instantaneous signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). To achieve this in practice, it is necessary to estimate the channel coefficient per hop and feed it back to the preceding transmitting/relaying node. Due to the semi-fixed hovering position of rotary-wing #unmanned #aerial #vehicles (#UAVs), this estimate will likely be outdated for the airborne channel. ----MOHAMMED ELAMASSIE, Dr. Sadiq M. In the world of airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (AISR), manned and unmanned aircraft are becoming increasingly more capable of gathering vast amounts of data across wide areas. While platforms are evolving in their capability to capture data, their new challenge is processing this information at a rate that makes the intelligence relevant; agility and speed are key. The OODA loop strategic model - Observe, Orientate, Decide, Act - describes this perfectly. Increasing the speed and agility of decision-making increases the likelihood of success over an opponent. Using High Throughput Satellite (HTS) connectivity, particularly steerable beams, users can now live stream data directly from aircraft to intelligence fusion centres. This allows near real-time processing of raw data into intelligence and, from that, allows commanders to decide and act at a pace that keeps them ahead of their adversaries. At Avanti Communications, we’ve been at the forefront of supporting AISR platforms with our advanced Ka-band HTS satellites and steerable beams. Our beams provide the very highest data rates off an aircraft, allowing live streaming of surveillance data which, in turn, enables aircraft to be dynamically re-tasked mid-flight, allowing for immediate and effective responses. Let’s discuss about how our satellites are transforming AISR services and increasing users OODA loops to the speed of relevance. #AISR #OODA #Innovation #Surveillance #ISR #DataProcessing #HTS #SatelliteTechnology #RealTimeData #Aviation #AvantiCommunications

Insitu Expands Integrator UAS Capabilities with P-LEO Satellite Control for Extended Range >> https://hubs.la/Q02XHLBz0 Insitu Inc, a Boeing Company, announces new Proliferated-Low Earth Orbit (P-LEO) SATCOM control for its Integrator UAS. This advancement provides a significant boost to Beyond Line of Sight control, allowing the Integrator to achieve a point-to-point range of up to 2,000 nautical miles with an endurance of 27.5 hours. The newly added P-LEO SATCOM capability allows operators to control Integrator from anywhere worldwide and does not occupy any of the Integrator’s six payload bays, preserving its capacity for over 1,000 multi-intelligence configurations.

Powering Precision: ADLES and Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s REMUS UUVs in Action The Scripps Institution of Oceanography uses REMUS 100 and 600 UUVs equipped with ADL's ADLE3800PC SBC to capture critical data for sonar and oceanographic surveys. These versatile AUVs are ideal for scientific, commercial, and military operations. Powered by the ADLE3800PC, the system captures data from multiple sensors, including magnetometers (to detect buried ships), sonar, forward-looking sonar, multi-beam sonar, still cameras, and acoustic sensors. For mission-critical underwater operations, reliability and efficiency are key to ensuring 30+ hours of performance. In remote search missions, AI-driven data collection must function autonomously without land-based guidance, where system delays or failures can lead to lost opportunities and costly mission repeats. Rugged environments demand continuous data collection and processing, while the SBC must meet strict space, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements. ADLES delivers high-performance, compact SBCs designed for the harshest conditions, with reliability and ease of maintenance at the forefront. With years of expertise in rugged embedded systems, ADL offers holistic solutions tailored to client needs, spanning design, prototyping, testing, and production. The air domain that #pilots operate in today is much different than in the past. Today's pilots often operate at low altitudes and in environments with poor visibility and numerous obstructions. Worse, they face near-peer adversaries capable of denying or degrading traditional position, timing, and navigation (#PNT) systems. We sat down with Nick Wilkinson and Jack Harris of Collins Aerospace to learn more about how digital terrain systems like TERPROM improve #situationalawareness in the skies, even in scenarios where Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) are denied. https://lnkd.in/eGA4UJu3 #militarytechnology #GPS
