As I sit and cuddle with our son, I think about schools in the future. What will they be like for him? Are you the same? Class sizes are likely to be bigger and not every child will receive the support they need. Currently most classes will have a ratio of 1:15 (if they are lucky) not every class has a TA and often they are needed elsewhere to support students with significant need in the class. With a teacher retention crisis on the horizon, it is likely to only get worse. But what’s the alternative? The average cost of private school education is £20k a year. Some of my parents decide instead to pay for 1:1 or group tuition to support their child and ensure that they get the help they need in school to be able to get ahead.
