🌱 Foodstuffs Support Centre earns ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐NABERSNZ rating 🌍 We’re thrilled to announce that our Landing Drive Support Centre has just achieved a NABERSNZ ‘Whole Building’ rating from NZGBC – and not just any rating, but 5 out of 6 stars. This means our head office is performing at a market-leading level for energy efficiency, and among an elite group of less than a handful of buildings to achieve a 5 or above in all four ratings, for its design, build, fitout, and ongoing performance. Backed by EECA (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority), NABERSNZ measures energy use during a building’s operational phase, going beyond construction sustainability ratings. This achievement highlights our ongoing commitment to reducing our energy footprint and contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future for all Kiwis. With solar panels on our Distribution Centre roof supplying part of our power and continuous monitoring of our energy use, we’re easing pressure on the national grid and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. 🌟 Big shout-out to our amazing Property team. Special thanks to @Andrew Reynolds, the Foodstuffs Facilities team, FMANZ - Facilities Management Association of New Zealand and Direct Control Limited for their expertise in the NABERSNZ assessment and for continually fine-tuning our building's energy efficiency. 🙌 A huge thank-you to the wider Landing Drive staff for valuable feedback on lighting, air-conditioning, EV charging and more - every bit helps us improve. 🏆 The Support Centre’s performance backs up its sustainable credentials, having been awarded a 5 Star Green Star Design rating for the building’s design, a 6 Star Green Star Built rating for its construction, and a 6 Star Green Star Interiors rating for the fitout. I'm over the moon to share the anouncement that our Support Centre has just achieved its first NABERSNZ rating for Foodstuffs. There are two main tricks to constantly improving energy efficiency - measure and tune. A credit goes out to FMANZ - Facilities Management Association of New Zealand for the networking and workshops that had spurred this initiative. NABERSNZ is a great way to measure and showcase your energy efficiency benchmark. Whilst we got a 5 out of 6, it allows us to tune and sense check what it will take to improve upon this benchmark. Energy effiency improvements are one of very few projects that should never have a completion date - you can always improve, especially as technology advances, especially when considering Moores Law (Better computational advancements = more improvements). There are some exciting energy projects currently underway at Landing Drive with Rinnai New Zealand Limited, Direct Control Limited, EECA (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority) and @Lumen that I can soon announce. Interesting the City of Adelaide offer cash back, incentives and rebates as part of their Sustainability Incentives Scheme, which is great for the community and businesses. https://lnkd.in/gemF3zYS According to Your Energy Saving Solutions: The Scheme offers a variety of rebates and incentives that can help households and businesses save money on energy costs. These include: • Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) top-up: 25% for any appliance purchase or upgrade which receives a REPS rebate. (up to $500) • Appliance electrification: 50% for commercial replacement of gas appliances with electric or solar powered. (up to $5,000) • Home energy/sustainability assessments: 50% for a Residential Efficiency Scorecard or similar. (up to $200) But no release of a Cool Roof Report that gives evidence of passive reduction for cooling and positive impacts of urban heat islands, reduced heat impact through the envelope of the building and makes a surface as cool as the trees surrounding the building which means the less mechanical cooling is needed. After 35 years of proven global solutions in preventing heat load, we've been informed by the Mayor Jane Lomax-Smith we're unable to release publicly any very impressive details on this revolutionary sustainability report. Seems if alternative sustainable technologies are in play that present a genuine solution are being suppressed by Government yet its all independently validated by the University of Adelaide data. Truly putting South Australia's sustainability reputation backwards. The Government really shouldn't be picking winners and losers in sustainability to protect or exclude industries.
