[Sponsored] There are certainly easier ways to travel from #Munich to #PhnomPenh than by motorcycle, but for Oum Bunreth, the 10,000 km journey is about more than just getting from point “A” to point “B.” Setting off from BMW Group headquarters in Germany and passing through more than a dozen countries across two continents, Bunreth’s ride will raise money for the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation, a non-profit organisation providing free healthcare to children in the Kingdom. The ride will also be a celebration of the ties between #Germany and Bunreth’s native #Cambodia, a fact exemplified by his arrival just in time for Phnom Penh’s Oktoberfest 2024, hosted at the Connexion Koh Pich. Check out the article here to learn more about Bunreth’s ride, BMW Motorcycle Club Cambodia and the important work of the Kantha Bopha Foundation #motorcycle #travel #charity

𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝟮𝟰/𝟳 🌍🏃♂️ In 12 days time my dad and I will be running 24km’s a day, for 7 days, in 7 countries, which is the equivalent of 4 marathons in 7 days or 168km in 168 hours in 7 different countries. For the first three nights we will only be able to sleep on the plane. No beds or hotels. The temperature will likely drop to as low as -1°C, potentially even lower in certain places. Flights as long as 13 hours backed up by another half marathon and a bit every day for a week. The logistics are as follows: Day 1 - Fly from Brisbane to Hong Kong Day 2 - Fly from Hong Kong to Helsinki Day 3 - Fly from Helsinki to Paris Day 4 - Train from Paris to Amsterdam Day 5 - Train from Amsterdam to Brussels Day 6 - Fly from Brussels to Singapore Day 7 - Fly from Singapore to Brisbane This announcement would’ve been made around about 2 months ago however I was told that I wasn’t going to be able to do it, because an MRI scan told us that I had bad bone bruising and other problems with my left knee, that was going to stop me from running. But, somehow I have managed to get back to a state good enough to train. So with that said, after 2 months of nothing, I have been training for the last 6 days, and have another 12 until we start. Dad on the other hand, started training 8 weeks ago, kept training for about three weeks until it basically became clear that we weren’t going to be able to do it. So he stopped, only to be told a few days ago that actually I can run, and we will do it. So the poor guy has to now figure out how he can make his old legs get going in 2 weeks time. We will be running the last 24km’s in Brisbane on the 23rd of November (if everything goes to plan), so anyone that wants to get the runners out and come for a trot is more than welcome to, quite a few people that we have told are keen to, so hopefully we will see a fair few. It might be the only way we get the thing done :). More details around the time and place will be announced later. We are also looking to raise over $5,000 for homelessness within Australia through @wearemobilise. All donations big or small will go to an amazing cause. What do you know about Ultra Running? In 2022, I met limo kipkemoi, an ultra running #architect who in his free time rans up mountains, valleys, across deserts and any terrain possible. This guy once ran across all 47 Counties in Kenya... (Covid-19 time). He also organizes these runs, even though it is an individual target, the Ultra Runners do it as a community. And yes, there is a vibrant ultra running community in Kenya. I digress. Limo promised he would take up a cervical cancer elimination challenge. He wanted to do 10 summits in 4 days. To raise money and support free screening, for at least 5000 women. In 2022 December, he took time out of his crazy busy schedule, to attempt the 10 Summits. He ran up Mt. Kenya, up and down, different routes, non stop - only taking short breaks for meals, and a shorter snooze. December weather up the mountain is not the best, wet, slippery and just plain simple dangerous. The December weather was not in his favour. It poured heavily, he got soaked to his skin - literally - and his feet bore the blunt of it. Soaked, blistered and just painful to watch. But Limo was not to be deterred. He had a team of fellow runners who were supporting him in what others termed ultra madness. He still wanted to continue even with hurting feet. We implored, cajoled and begged that he would stop, for his feet's sake. We eventually prevailed, and he agreed to stop. A total of 5 summits, times in 2.5 days done! In his own words - "it is a DNF, but we shall revisit"... So. What do you know about Ultra Runners? They are long distance runners, that have a high level of endurance, strength, and mental fortitude. I witnessed this first hand, yesterday all day, (and today morning they are still at it), Running at a fast pace - doing 6.7KM every hour. 220 Runners started at 8.00 yesterday at the Nairobi Ultra Marathon. The race is still ongoing, we still have runners doing this challenge today morning, 28 hours later. I will be posting here about my interactions with them yesterday - watch out for the 3rd post. My 2nd post is about the funds that Limo raised in 2022 Dec, and what we did with it in 2023. But in the meantime, head on to twitter and see what we posted in 2022 Dec see link below. Our X handle is @KILELEHealthKE and you can also follow Limo's escapades on @Limo_kipkemoi https://lnkd.in/dwkT3iEK

Road cycling and investor meetings don't go together? Those who have attended our Stockpicker Summits know that the opposite is true. That's why we're launching a new format: 𝗛𝗔𝗜𝗕 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 🚴♂️ Our concept consists of two components: 1. Investor meetings with a twist We bring European investors together with exciting listed companies. And where better to do this than on a road bike? Admittedly, conversations aren't ideal during an ascent, but they're all the better over a bite to eat afterwards or on the flat sections. 2. Every kilometer counts ❣ To ensure that not only the tour participants benefit but also people in need of help, we will set a charitable cause in advance. Everyone can then decide for themselves how much to donate per kilometer completed. The minimum pledge is €1. The locations will vary. We'll start with 📍 Mallorca! Cyclists know the island is the perfect spot for this format. There are only two conditions: No e-bikes and no Rabobank jerseys :) I am already looking forward to the first rides together. To all investors and CEOs of listed companies: If you're interested in joining our format, feel free to send me a message!

🚴♂️Tomorrow I will be attending a Schools Of Tomorrow conference in Coventry, England. Here, students will start the change that is necessary, making sure schools become more sustainable. This initiative is not only led by students though. I'm excited to share an inspiring initiative led by my teacher that embodies both innovation and sustainability! Through the Schools of Tomorrow program, students are not just learning about the future—they're actively contributing to it. One standout effort is the sustainable cycling campaign, where my teacher is leading the charge to promote eco-friendly transportation and raise awareness about reducing our carbon footprint. The campaign encourages both students and teachers to embrace cycling as a healthier, more sustainable way to commute. It's incredible to see how small actions, like swapping a car ride for a bike ride, can collectively make a significant impact on our planet. Huge shoutout to my teacher for leading by example and showing us how to integrate sustainability into our daily lives! 🚴♀️💚 #Sustainability #Cycling #GreenFuture #SchoolsOfTomorrow #EcoFriendly #CarbonFootprint #GreenLiving #EducationForChange

The scale of the global food waste problem is staggering: 🔴 33% of all food produced is wasted every year. That translates to $1.2 trillion worth of food annually. 🔴 Almost 50% of all fruits and vegetable produced is wasted every year globally which is equivalent to about 3.7 trillion apples. And as if those stats weren't shocking enough... 🔴 If 25% of the food currently lost or wasted were saved, it would be enough to feed 870 million hungry people. So today, on Stop Food Waste Day, please support our chosen charity FareShare UK / FareShare South West to ensure they have the funds they need to redistribute surplus food to charities that turn it into meals. 🚨 Donate here today to stop food waste, make sure people don't go hungry, and support our charity challenge: 👉 https://lnkd.in/efZZ8EkS #StopFoodWasteDay #FightHunger #CharityChallenge #ZeroWaste

This year's Hot Hearts Rally (Rajd Gorących Serc) will take place in September, but preparations are already in full swing. This is an initiative that Vastint supports with pride and commitment! The main goal of the event is to promote sports activities and support people with disabilities. The funds collected during the event will be donated to selected organizations supporting sports by organizing training and camps, active rehabilitation and providing access to equipment. The main financial goal of the organization is to purchase their own means of transport for the students, with which they could transport equipment for trips and competitions. However, if the raised funds do not allow this, the organizations plan to purchase hand bikes. The cost of one such bike is approximately PLN 40 k. In 2023, during the first Polish edition of the unique event called the Hot Hearts Rally, thanks to sponsors, partners and all participants, jointly we raised over PLN 470 k! In our opinion, this is a unique opportunity to support those in need and raise funds for a good cause. Thanks to our participation, we have a real impact on improving the lives of many people with disabilities, which is consistent with the values we promote. Additionally, we care about the well-being of our employees! Physical activity is key to a healthy lifestyle, and taking part in a rally is great fun, team building and an opportunity to test your fitness. Or maybe your company would like to join the Rally? For more information click here https://lnkd.in/dUZ-WswH In the photos - our employees participating in last year's rally. ✨Celebrating 50 Days to Tour 21: Gearing Up for a Cause!✨ With just 50 days remaining until The Tour 21 for Cure Leukaemia, the excitement and anticipation are palpable. As we approach this pivotal moment, I want to take this opportunity to reflect on the journey so far and the impactful path ahead. ♦️ Journey of Preparation Over the last several weeks, my training has intensified, involving early morning rides, strategic nutrition planning, and crucial recovery periods. Each pedal stroke is a reminder of the mission we are on—to support groundbreaking research and treatments for leukaemia. 🚴♂️ It has been 113 days since I first rode a road bike, and in my training, I have ridden over 3,000 miles/ 4828 km and 155,000 ft/ 47,244 m of elevation. ♦️ Community and Support The support from friends, family, and sponsors has been overwhelming. From fundraising events to social media shares, every gesture adds strength to our cause. This collective effort is not just about cycling; it's about making a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by leukaemia. Wattbike | ELYSTAN STREET | AB Sports Nutrition | Ribble Cycles ♦️ Final Push and Call to Action As we count down these 50 days, let's amplify our efforts. I encourage everyone to engage with our campaign—whether by spreading the word, contributing financially, or simply sending encouraging messages. Every action propels us closer to our goal to raise £1M for Cure Leukaemia. 🙏 Looking Forward The road to The Tour 21 is about more than endurance—it’s about hope, resilience, and community. Let's use this time to inspire and motivate one another as we head towards the starting line with one shared vision: a future free from leukaemia. Let’s keep the momentum going and make these days count. Join me in turning hope into action as we pedal towards a cure. ➡️ Fundraising Event, May 16th in London: https://lnkd.in/ec75MrY9 ➡️ Donate: https://lnkd.in/e6SavJ7z My fellow riders: Neil Jackson | Keith Knowles | Jonathan Z. | Mark Jackson | Thomas Roberts | Tudor Tamas | Andrew Lowrie | Liam Mahoney | Steve Gibbins #Tour21 #50DaysToGo #CyclingForACause #CureLeukaemia #CountdownToChange #CommunityStrength #RideWithPurpose

Yesterday, over 50,000 people ran the London Marathon After months of training and mindboggling commitment, they pushed themselves to the absolute limit and achieved something really amazing. What if that effort had gone towards defending life on Earth? I have incredible respect for marathon runners, I couldn’t do it. They have achieved something really fantastic, and I salute them - they are a testament to the power of human will But we’re deep in a planetary emergency and that means society has to reconsider its priorities Many people say they don’t take part in climate action because they just can’t find the time in their busy lives. Yet many marathon runners are overworked professionals with young families, and they still found time to train because they made it a personal priority Many ran as a way to make the world a better place, to raise money for their important causes. It's a wonderful commitment, thank you. But what if those hundreds of hours of training instead went to confronting the power structures that make their cause necessary in the first place? I worry about what this says about our sense of agency. Folk seem to feel the only way to make a difference is to raise money for charities and campaigners. We feel it’s the job of others to make the world better, so we leave it to the professionals (like most of my network here) and support them with cash But that model is failing. Charities and campaigners can’t do it on their own, not even with unlimited budgets. Leaving action to others is why we’re in an emergency in the first place To get out of this we need to reach social tipping points, when momentum towards change becomes unstoppable. To reach it, we need everyone to get involved, and make climate action every bit as much of a personal mission as running a marathon is Many runners feel real elation - it's part sense of achievement & part runner’s high, but often it seems more than that. It seems also to come from having had a real sense of purpose. A deep satisfaction from committing oneself to something bigger than our day-to-day grind Well there’s no greater sense of purpose to be had than coming together with your fellow humans to fight for a better future & the survival of all we love. It’s not a struggle with a clear end point like a marathon, but you get more than a PB and a medal You get to know you tried

3 years ago (plus 3 days) we placed 2nd in @plymouthcc #backthefuture #climatechange competition This was just 3 weeks after launching a @crowdfunderuk campaign and raising over £2,000 in donations. We had also done a minor thing of setting up a private limited company from scratch, completely independently. Placing second we were awarded our first project and an additional £12,500 to make the project happen. We went to work & delivered 12 events focussed on enhancing sustainable cycling in #plymouth and the #devon area. We delivered above required by filming a road safety video with @city___bus @plymouthcitybus and supported a local mountain biking charity with fundraising & awareness. 3 years on we’re still battling to establish ourselves, now more than ever as a full time business. It’s a real challenge but we are passionate about what we do and just hope we can win some substantial work & continue to help people & planet in the process. Please get in touch if you need any sustainability, wellbeing or personal development needs for you or your organisation. We value your support! .………………………………..................................
