It’s good World Agri-Tech happens—really good. This is my fifth year attending the event, and I love that it brings together so many people from the Agriculture industry. Okay, let’s call it an ecosystem. From the input providers and chemical and seed companies to investors, government representatives, and start-ups of all shapes and sizes, the event even brings in the occasional farmer, one of the room's most important assets. This year’s event centered around commercializing solutions for climate-resilient agriculture. I see that as a how-to situation and an important question to answer for Agtech companies and their investors. But we’ve been asking that same question for a while now. I believe the more important question to ask and answer is how to speed the adoption of climate-resilient agriculture. And this is the new chicken-and-egg question: If we adopt climate-resilient agriculture, will commercialization follow? But here’s the thing: we are innovating faster than input providers and farmers will adopt. Start-ups and new technologies learn and adapt quickly. Unfortunately, our target audience is actually at the other end of the behavior spectrum; they are risk-averse, conservative by nature, and slower to change. We must work together to support faster industry transformation. Farmers and growers took a greater part on the stage at past summits – and I wished they were more present at this event. Only they can convey the magnitude of the challenge confronting them with visceral effect. Farmers aren’t persuaded by events held in a Swiss ski resort or Doha amongst the wealthy and powerful. They’re persuaded by what confronts them daily. Our greatest collective challenge is bridging this gap to accelerate the adoption of new technologies to solve food production's greatest challenges in 10,000 years. And that is what all industry events should be talking about – urgently. #protectedcropping #digitalagronomy #foodproduction

Thanks to the entire Source.ag team for the warm welcome!  The attached news in Germany broke through few days before I signed. Climate change reduced the overall German 2023 harvest by 15%.    Few things to me are clear (yet simplified) 1. We urgently need to reduce emmissions from the food & ag sector - especially by giving back land we use for feedstock 2. The land we use open field should move towards regenerative practices 3.
