Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) are essential for building workplaces that represent our society. Yet, despite the UK’s Equality Act of 2010, significant disparities remain. Disabled people's employment rate is just 54% compared to the national average of 82%, and the median gender pay gap is still at 14%. In our latest blog, we explore the challenges the recruitment industry faces in advancing DEI and highlight both the obstacles and the progress being made. We discuss the recruitment sector's dual perspective on DEI issues and the ongoing debate on class bias as a potential tenth protected characteristic. We also share success stories from companies actively improving their diversity and inclusion practices and provide practical strategies for fostering inclusive hiring processes. Curious about how we can truly transform our workplaces to be more inclusive and equitable? Read our blog and join the discussion👇 🔗https://lnkd.in/dXWUWmVT

This Pride Month feels particularly significant. As someone who's championed LGBTQ+ inclusion for over a decade, I'm proud of the progress that has been made. But our recent Randstad Workmonitor Pulse research paints a clear picture: progress isn't linear, and there's still a significant way to go. Why Inclusion Matters: The survey reveals a critical link – fear of discrimination impacts career aspirations and workplace experiences. When people can be their authentic selves, they perform better. It's critical for organisations to show active allyship. Employees are looking for this more than ever. Data from the Workmonitor Pulse Survey shows: - Nearly half (49%) of LGBTQI+ workers feel comfortable discussing their sexuality or gender identity at work, while more than a quarter (28%) avoid it altogether. - Only a little over half (51%) feel their employers have taken meaningful action to create an equitable workplace for LGBTQI+ employees. - Fear is a real barrier, deterring 40% of qualified LGBTQ+ candidates from applying for jobs altogether. Some LGBTQ+ employees (38%) even prefer to work remotely due to a lack of inclusion in their physical workplace. https://lnkd.in/etuDSF_5 Join Our Live Event: On June 6th, our Global CEO Sander van 't Noordende joins Erin Uritus (CEO, Out and Equal) and Allyn Shaw (EVP, COO, Consumer Technology, Wells Fargo) for an insightful LinkedIn Live session. They'll delve into the findings of the Workmonitor Pulse Survey, explore how employers can create an inclusive environment, empower LGBTQI+ talent, and foster allyship. Don't miss it! https://lnkd.in/eqrsXBMQ To learn more about how to integrate LGBTQ+ inclusion into your talent processes, behaviours, and cultures, feel free to reach out. We are all still on a journey to inclusion, but I'm proud to work for an organisation with an openly gay leader at the helm, looking to #inspirepride every day.

As we honor Pride Month, it’s crucial to reflect on the ongoing challenges and progress of our LGBTQI+ colleagues. The latest Workmonitor Pulse survey from Randstad reveals that despite progress, 41% of LGBTQI+ workers have faced discrimination at work, pushing nearly a third to leave their roles. This is a clear reminder that our journey towards inclusivity is far from over. At Randstad, we believe that fostering an environment of genuine inclusivity is not just a moral imperative but also a business necessity. Here are three tangible ways we can all contribute to a more inclusive workplace: 1️⃣Empower employee-driven groups: Initiatives should be rooted in the real experiences of employees, leading to informed actions that truly support inclusivity. 2️⃣ Instill a culture of respect and empathy: Recognize and respect the diverse experiences of LGBTQI+ workers, ensuring they are seen as individuals beyond their gender or sexual orientation. 3️⃣ Authentic allyship, all year-round: While Pride Month is a key moment for reflection, our commitment to inclusivity must extend throughout the year. Join us in creating workplaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. For more on this, please read the article below and join the conversation. Together, we can ensure that every employee can thrive authentically. https://lnkd.in/eaUxNPq2 #Pride2024 #Inclusion #Diversity #Belonging #InspirePride #Randstad
