This week I had quite a long commute to the office, around 9 hours in total. And I was thinking about the business analyst role and the generic statement we all know: ”A business analyst is someone who connects the business and technical team.” This is true, but I find it a bit incomplete and boring as a definition. It lacks depth. For me, after years of working as a business analyst: A business analyst is someone who can strategically bring value to the client/project/team by: - uncovering hidden needs, instead of just jumping into solutions - building transparent and meaningful communication processes with stakeholders - making complex things understandable by utilizing most appropriate tools for it, based on context - … and of course, other things not seen at first sight.
