Puresport has the strongest community of runners (almost) Puresport is a supplement brand dedicated to its community of runners. They have an in-person run club with runs organised around the UK. They also have a Discord group to connect enthusiasts. But there’s a way Puresport can have the #1 most engaged online running community. And here’s how I would do it: Puresport is very community driven with COO Daniel Temm often mentioning the power of community. But how can Puresport create an international online movement to connect runners together like never seen before? 1st focus more on a Purpose & Mission: Puresport’s online community should focus on being the go-to space for runners to level up. Instead of just being a chat space, it should focus on providing resources, challenges, and activities to help members become healthier athletes, all while feeling connected to a larger movement around running. 2nd an Exclusive Space Using Discord has its benefits but a custom branded community would be a step up. Why? Unlike a generic Discord channel, a dedicated platform would feel like a branded home for the community, with a look that’s unmistakably “Puresport.” Every interaction would feel like part of the Puresport experience. Which is very important for giving the brand more attention. This custom space could make it possible to: Host resources like expert-led running guides, training programs, and articles, all in one organised space. Offer tiered achievements or “runner badges” that track milestones, inspiring members to improve and stay engaged. And: provide discounts on products, early access to events, and other benefits that can only be accessed through the community. But how would focusing on building an online running community movement benefit Puresport? Strengthen brand loyalty: This one of a kind online community would deepen the bond members have with Puresport, making them feel like they’re part of something exclusive and meaningful. With every athletic improvement they make they will associate it Puresport. Increase organic visibility: Customers can find Puresport products just because they were attracted to the community, amplifying brand reach. Generate authentic UGC: With a space tailored for wellness and running, members would feel encouraged to share their journeys, creating valuable content for Puresport’s marketing. Gain unique insights: Puresport could use this community to gather data on customer preferences, challenges and needs that brands that aren’t as close to their ideal customers would miss. With a purpose & mission focused online community, Puresport could elevate its connection with runners, offering them a space for growth and creating superfans of the brand in the process. The Rise of In-Person Active Clubs! As remote work and digital life become the norm, people are increasingly turning to in-person fitness clubs to regain a sense of community and connection. Gone are the days when traditional gyms and solo workouts were the only options for fitness enthusiasts. Now, community-based clubs like run, cycling, and even paddleboarding groups are rising in popularity, offering structured, social environments that make exercise more enjoyable. SweatPals, a platform that connects people with these clubs, is capitalizing on this trend, recently securing $3 million in funding following a successful crowdfunding round. Their goal? To expand into all major cities by the end of 2025, bringing accessible and varied fitness options to communities nationwide. #health #wellness #healthtrends

Crazy idea of the week (not the only one, but one I'll share here). Our community of runners (not just trail but all runners) should lean into sports team models that have worked in other areas to help advance the sport. Hear me out on this. Right now, elite runners really only have the option of running for a flagship brand - HOKA, Nike, On, etc. Those teams have budgets that they dedicate to those runners along with some resources. However, these flagship brands don't often collaborate with other brands to build a holistic "team". This structure limits the potential of these elite athlete teams and the competition in the sport. However, if you look to other sport verticals we can see some signs of potential. As a sport that is mature, we can grab the parts of the other sports we like and build something new. Most other sports teams (basketball, football, cycling, F1, etc.) all build their teams first and then look to sponsors to support the team. They are built around coaches, trainers, and a belief in structuring their teams with the right athletes to achieve the goal of winning "something" at the end of the season. So, what if running did the same thing? And, what if it was led by the community? What is the community raised, through some crowdfunding platforms out there, $5,000,000 for the development of a professional sports organization. Meaning, that the community would own the equity of the organization. This money would go to the seed funding of 5 initial "teams". I truly believe "teams" are the key to the success. These teams would all sit under a managing body (again, similar to the NFL, NBA, PGA, UCI, etc.) This managing body would help set the schedule for the season, negotiate deals for the good of the entire industry, set standards for contracting with athletes, free agency, etc. The 5 teams would be made up of a real team of coaches, trainers, and professional athletes. These athletes would be paid a salary. These teams would agree that they are going to race against each other at various races throughout the season in pursuit of an end of season "prize" The team, much like cycling, would have specialists - climbers, sprinters, overall performers, etc. And, eventually, the teams would build out rosters of sponsors that would help fund the operations of the team and the organization going forward. Is this possible? Could this be done? Why not? I think having true teams, with personalities and set dates on the schedules for competition, could make the sport of trail running even more amazing than it is right now. It would take a few years for footing to be established and wrinkles to be ironed out, but if it did reach stability, then it could be something special. With a user base so much larger than cycling, I'm always amazed at how we lag behind their team structure. There you go, crazy idea for the week...but one I'd love to see come into existence and one I'd be happy to help with.
