Celebrating 30 years of sustainable forest management 🌳 For three decades, the Forest Stewardship Council has been on the front line of promoting a more sustainable future. We are incredibly proud of what has been accomplished so far —from our foundation in Oaxaca in 1994 to becoming the world’s most trusted forest certification organization present in 89 countries, including the United States of America since 1995. In this anniversary year, we celebrate these outstanding achievements and the people who have made them possible. Thank you for your dedication to forests and all who depend on them. What is FSC? The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international non-profit organization established in 1993 to promote responsible management of the world's forests. FSC sets standards for forest management and certifies forests that meet these standards based on principles of social, environmental, and economic sustainability. FSC certification ensures that forest products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits. The certification process involves an independent evaluation of forest management practices to ensure compliance with FSC's rigorous standards. By choosing FSC-certified products, consumers and businesses can support sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation, and the rights of forest-dependent communities. FSC certification is recognized globally and is widely regarded as a credible certification system for promoting sustainable forest practices.

The theme of this year's The National Association of Conservation Districts' Stewardship Week, "May the Forest Be with You, Always," emphasizes the vital role of forests in soil and water conservation. Forests are crucial for sustaining life on Earth— providing oxygen, storing carbon, and supporting biodiversity. They also protect soil and water resources, preventing erosion and purifying contaminants. In the face of environmental challenges, resilient forests are essential for a sustainable world. "May the Forest Be with You, Always" symbolizes NACD's commitment to responsible forest stewardship. During Stewardship Week, conservation districts nationwide engage in various activities to celebrate and promote forests. They educate communities through contests, workshops, and events, fostering a deeper understanding of the forest's importance. By inspiring action and emphasizing collective responsibility, Stewardship Week ensures the preservation of forests for future generations. Learn more at https://bit.ly/4dhMu4O.

Good evening and welcome to another #TuesdayEdition of #WhiskeyNews. Since we all have our passions for #whiskey, and #bourbon the namesake of America, the news that a crucial piece of legislation recently passing the U.S. House of Representatives aimed at protecting America's white oak forests. Without white oak, we can’t have Bourbon!! The Fix Our Forests Act, passed with bipartisan support, includes key provisions for white oak regeneration and resilience. The legislation will provide federal resources and research support to help sustain white oak-dominated forests, which are vital for bourbon production. While current white oak stocks meet immediate needs, experts warn of long-term sustainability challenges due to insufficient regeneration. Without direct intervention and active forest management promoting seedling survival, the industry could face significant challenges in the coming decades. The bill now moves to the U.S. Senate for consideration, where supporters hope to see continued bipartisan support for this crucial conservation measure. Read more in the article from our friends at The Whiskey Wash below. Cheers🥃!! #WhiskeyInstructor #BourbonEnthusiest https://lnkd.in/ehEAaiYW

Do you know about UK native trees?🌳 This #NationalTreeWeek we wanted to know more about our native trees. In our latest blog, we’ve taken a closer look at some of the UK’s most iconic native #trees, their characteristics, and their importance to local ecosystems. https://lnkd.in/e3237Ej2 As part of our commitment to reducing our impact on the environment, we plant one tree for every five orders manufactured. We do this through One Tree Planted – so far we have planted 5812 trees! We are also certified to the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) UK to ensure the material we use is sustainably sourced from certified forests. #SandlandPackaging #BespokeSolutions #Packaging #Sustainability #BespokeBoxManufacturer #BoxManufacturer #SheetPlant #BespokePackaging #CarbonNeutral #Wolverhampton

In two days time, on 26 September, Tropical Forest Alliance and ISEAL are hosting a webinar on 'Taking the First Step: Supporting Companies to Take Landscape-scale Action'. Momentum is building for companies to take landscape-scale action. However, almost two thirds of downstream and midstream companies identified having had taken landscape-scale action in a recent global study conducted by TFA, Proforest and CDP are supporting only one initiative. This finding indicates that many companies are only at the beginning of their journey in supporting multi-stakeholder efforts to achieve change at scale in production regions. Within this context, the Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA), and ISEAL are hosting a Jurisdictional Action Network (JAN) webinar to build understanding on the available tools to assist companies to initiate and/or take more landscape-scale action. These tools include maps of landscape and jurisdictional initiatives and multi-stakeholder processes/ platforms and a roadmap for company effective landscape action and claims. Our confirmed panelists and moderator: • Tom Hollick, Group Forests Manager at Tesco and Co-lead of the Landscape WG of the CGF Forest Positive Coalition of Action • John Buchanan, Vice President Sustainable Production at Conservation International • Norma Pedroza Arceo, Technical Manager, Forests and Land – Sustainable Landscapes at CDP • Patrick Mallet, Director, Innovations at ISEAL • Jack Lloyd, Project Specialist at TFA Register here: https://lnkd.in/ekWiRUsA #Deforestation #LandscapeAction #Stakeholders #TropicalForests
