In another news items on integrated offerings and consolidation, ŌURA accounced last week that they acquired Veri. The smart-ring maker will take over all business of the continuous glucose monitoring start-up, likely taking advantage of the move of the sugar-monitoring #wearables from prescription to over-the-counter access. It is not fully clear yet how the services will be merged. Will OURA simply use the algorithms for food personalization in their app, will their subscription start including a prime-like version with Veri patches, or will the services run somewhat seperate but be accessible through the same app (á la Withings)? Overall, yet another example how 2024 leads to consolidation in #healthtech with services merging to give consumers more synergies between different devices and offerings, combining data sources, and consolidating insights. It will be fascinating to see the next wave of wearables launching soon with breadth of service becoming more of a focus!

Understanding Your Health is the New Luxury In an era where health data is constantly collected through wearables and apps, the gap between data availability and user understanding continues to grow. Despite having access to vast amounts of personal health information, most people struggle to interpret it meaningfully. This presents a significant opportunity for remote patient monitoring and personalized health services. Consider this: how often do individuals regularly visit their doctor or complete annual blood work? The future of luxury will be defined by personalized health concierges—experts who guide your health journey, interpret your data, remind you of essential check-ups, and provide reassurance when concerns arise. The key to success will lie in offering products and services that enable consumers to take control of their health, without imposing rigid exercise plans or diets. The companies that offer truly consumer-driven, personalized solutions will lead this expanding market. As health becomes a new measure of wealth, managing it with tailored care and personalized attention will come to define modern luxury. #health #digitalhealth
