#MorningRant 📢 #DeepTech is not a sector, it is a characteristic on a venture’s technology stack. I’d like the ecosystem to consider how it labels ventures because it often creates the environment that actually confuses itself. Startupfest hosted the inaugural #HardTechFest which was a great addition to the event. #HardTech always gets a bad rap by investors for being more expensive to commercialize then software. The reality is that practically speaking it is actually less expensive to develop #hardware because there is an incredible amount of non-dilutive funding available for it that is not there for software. Hardware is HARDER however and I appreciate the moat that it develops for itself as a result.
