“Come together to protect what we love from the threat of fossil fuels.” 💌 On the final day of #COP29, we launched an open letter to global leaders, signed by hundreds of climate champions—renowned actors, writers, scientists, youth activists, and civil society leaders. In this powerful reading, ayshka najib delivers their rallying cry: it’s time for governments to step up, #EndFossilFuels, and chart a new course toward a #FossilFreeFuture. The #FossilFuelTreaty is the missing piece we need to manage a fast and fair transition away from fossil fuels. ✍️ Join us and add your voice to this urgent call for action at the link in the comments below!

Despite fossil fuels being the main driver of the climate crisis, it took until the most recent COP negotiations for fossil fuels to be explicitly named in climate agreements. The question still remains—how to phase fossil fuels out quickly and equitably to prevent catastrophic warming. Join us for an interactive online workshop, "Working Towards a Global Treaty to End Fossil Fuels", on Monday, 29th July, from 7-8:30pm, to explore ways to kick fossil fuel influence out of politics.🖥 The workshop will focus on the progress and future steps of this critical campaign to end the expansion of new coal, oil and gas projects and manage a global transition away from fossil fuels. Together, we will reflect on the work of activists, organisations, and politicians in getting the Treaty highlighted, and how we build the movement for climate justice. Importantly, we’ll also delve into where you can take part and contribute to this social change.✊ Register now to secure your spot! https://lnkd.in/dU88ZK9y #FossilFuels #GlobalTreaty #ClimateAction #Activism

It's beyond a farce. And the problem has been clear for many years. This is a question *only* for those who think that reform of the COP process is possible and useful. What specifically do you propose and how do you think it can be pushed past the objections of petrostates which are certain if the reform proposals have potential value? Please address the policy *and* the politics. (I know several of you will say the COP process is beyond saving but pls don't do that on this post. We *definitely* need to hear about alternatives especially given Trump but that warrants a separate post. Thanks in advance.
📣 BREAKING: New Kick Big Polluters Out's analysis finds a shocking 1,770+ fossil fuel lobbyists at the ongoing climate talks — this number is higher than the delegates of the ten most climate-vulnerable nations. “New climate talks, same old story. Corporate capture - as demonstrated by the volume of fossil fuel lobbyists roaming in the corridors and rooms of COP29 - will continue to impede progress towards climate action if left unchecked," commented CIEL's Erika Lennon. With so many foxes in the hen house, it's not hard to see why progress remains elusive and climate chaos increases. It is long past time for the UNFCCC and States to address the obvious conflict of interest of having those wrecking the planet in the process of saving it. We need to reform the climate negotiations process and make sure the voices of people on the frontlines, not the voices of polluters, are taking center stage. #COP29 #KickBigPollutersOut #WeedOutTheSnakes

#Mission2025 launches at London Climate Action Week today! A high-ambition coalition ready to work with governments to deliver 1.5C-aligned climate plans in 2025 and faster action ahead of #COP30. Mission 2025 responds to analysis by the Energy Transitions Commission, showing that rapidly falling costs of clean technologies and proven feasibility of other solutions mean that countries can collectively almost triple ambition – and bring the world on a 2°C pathway – merely by factoring in the commitments made and progress achieved since previous plans were submitted in 2021. Join us on a decade-defining mission to secure the success of our economies and the well-being of our people and planet. #LCAW2024 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gqrz3iBX

15-year-old activist Greta Thunberg speaks truth to power at the UN COP24 climate talks: "My name is Greta Thunberg. I am 15 years old. I am from Sweden. I speak on behalf of Climate Justice Now. Many people say that Sweden is just a small country and it doesn't matter what we do. But I've learned you are never too small to make a difference. And if a few children can get headlines all over the world just by not going to school, then imagine what we could all do together if we really wanted to. But to do that, we have to speak clearly, no matter how uncomfortable that may be. You only speak of green eternal economic growth because you are too scared of being unpopular. You only talk about moving forward with the same bad ideas that got us into this mess, even when the only sensible thing to do is pull the emergency brake. You are not mature enough to tell it like is. Even that burden you leave to us children. But I don't care about being popular. I care about climate justice and the living planet. Our civilization is being sacrificed for the opportunity of a very small number of people to continue making enormous amounts of money. Our biosphere is being sacrificed so that rich people in countries like mine can live in luxury. It is the sufferings of the many which pay for the luxuries of the few. The year 2078, I will celebrate my 75th birthday. If I have children maybe they will spend that day with me. Maybe they will ask me about you. Maybe they will ask why you didn't do anything while there still was time to act. You say you love your children above all else, and yet you are stealing their future in front of their very eyes. Until you start focusing on what needs to be done rather than what is politically possible, there is no hope. We cannot solve a crisis without treating it as a crisis. We need to keep the fossil fuels in the ground, and we need to focus on equity. And if solutions within the system are so impossible to find, maybe we should change the system itself. We have not come here to beg world leaders to care. You have ignored us in the past and you will ignore us again. We have run out of excuses and we are running out of time. We have come here to let you know that change is coming, whether you like it or not. The real power belongs to the people. Thank you." https://lnkd.in/dhmtJxec #SchoolStrike4Climate #ClimateStrike #Youth4Climate #YouthUnstoppable

One of the biggest problems in the agenda towards a more sustainable future is that efforts are lead by the very people with highest interests to pursue a contrary direction. All considered, this seems like a big exercise in futility. Projects, especially climate crisis as it is the most complex one we have to face, need the right people with the right motivation and skills to be executed. It is as simple as that.
Investing in climate breakthrough technologies to solve climate change 💥 | Host of Climate Insiders podcast 🎙
Al Gore rightfully losing his 💩 His recent speech touches on a critical issue that demands our attention. With the current state of the world, are we really serious about solving the climate crisis, or are we just putting on a show? The time for half-measures has long passed. We need real strategies that protect our planet and invest in sustainable innovation. Supporting climate tech solutions, reducing waste, and transitioning to cleaner energy sources are steps we can’t afford to delay. But it’s not just about individuals making better choices—it’s about producers and legislators stepping up. What are your thoughts? Share them below 👇 📌 PS: Enjoyed this?
