“Pessimism is a luxury we simply cannot afford. There are people around the world being harmed today by climate change and fossil fuels, particularly in the Global South where countries least responsible for creating the problem are paying the highest price.” – Kumi Naidoo, President of Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative Read more about our efforts on the WINDWARD FUND blog. 🔗 Link in comments below.

Join #FossilFuelTreaty Initiative during New York Climate Week! Dear friends, allies and partners, As we gear up for New York Climate Week, the Summit of the Future, and the UN General Assembly, we find ourselves at a critical juncture in the global climate fight. Over the past year, fossil fuels have finally taken center stage in climate debates, but the urgency has never been greater. We've witnessed record-breaking heat and carbon emissions soaring to unprecedented levels. Despite some progress, many governments continue to approve new fossil fuel projects, threatening our collective future. Swift, global cooperation is crucial to managing a just transition away from fossil fuels. This is not a debate—it's a race against time to safeguard our planet for future generations. We invite you to join us for a series of online and in-person events during New York Climate Week in late September that will bring together world leaders, policymakers, civil society, and experts to push for the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and chart a path toward a sustainable, fossil-free future. We look forward to seeing many of you in New York. Please keep checking https://lnkd.in/dMFEp3V6 as we will continue to add events for you to join! Scotland ministers to water down climate change goals https://lnkd.in/ed4xYPQB When will politicians and governments actually treat Climate Change as a serious and genuine problem instead of some kind of game where you stave off the need to take real action by simply setting a target but without a plan? What Donald Trump would call ‘Fake Targets’ Right now we should be actively implementing realistic, genuine long term plans to deliver a better planet but all we see are vague long term plans being watered down either because the ‘fake target’ has been rumbled or for political expediency. Not sure which is worse - the UK Governments ‘Plan for Drivers’ or the Scottish Government’s boast that their ‘Fake Plans’ are world beating. We need real genuine targets backed up by credible plans being implemented.

On the calm waters of Nuku'alofa, the crew of the Uto Ni Yalo Trust, embodying the ancient seafaring traditions of the #Pacific, delivered a powerful message to the world: climate change is not a distant threat, but a present and escalating crisis. As they sailed using "old ways" without fossil fuels, they demonstrated that sustainable travel is not just a possibility but a necessity. This quiet protest, reflecting the backdrop of the bustling Pacific Islands Forum, highlights the urgency of the #6PACPlus submissions to #MEPC82 and our ongoing fight for a just and equitable transition. COP29 was billed as the ‘Finance COP,’ yet global leaders showed up empty-handed. The outcome? Disappointing at best. A goal of $300 billion is far from a tripling of climate finance. When you factor in inflation, it amounts to crumbs. The bottom line: the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) continues to shift the burden of addressing the climate crisis onto those who’ve contributed the least to cause it, and it paves the way for more economic entrapment, deeper debt, and more market-based mechanisms that have yet to deliver for communities most in need. Meanwhile, private jets flew in and out of Baku just as they did in Dubai, Sharm El-Sheikh, and Glasgow. The consumption patterns of the wealthiest individuals and corporations remain largely untouched and inequality is rising. The obvious solution? Taxing those who can most afford it. Thanks to Patriotic Millionaires for always standing up for climate and economic justice.

Perfect example of a member of a section of the younger generation who have been brainwashed and the their lack of ability to think critically it's so, so, so sad. Yes we do have problems but they are nowhere near as serious as the establishment and mainstream media would have us BeLIEve! Ponder on this Theory : The Billionaires DO NOT want to change and even accelerate their polluting lifestyle, they know we all are in danger of running out of natural resources, and also know how polluting and energy hungry new tech like electric cars, 5g communications, datacentres etc. etc. are. So to preserve their luxury lifestyles, their agendas are aimed at impoverishing, and dare I say it, culling the general population so resources are spared along with pollution reduction. A wild theory maybe, however when one analyses what agendas are at play (which are Not theories), then connects the dot this does make a lot of sense does it not? 🤔
NET ZERO: Julia: "You want an international emergency treaty to end all fossil fuels.. what will the impact be?" Ella: "It's an ambitious plan but the alternative is mass death" Julia: "You care so much about this topic, but you know absolutely nothing about it" (Julia Hartley-Brewer)
