It takes a village, and we are so thankful for ours. Together, we make a remarkable impact on vulnerable children and the families caring for them. Friends, families, partners, and supporters— you mean so much to us and you make this work possible. Truly, we couldn’t do this without you. With #GivingTuesday approaching, we asked our champion donors why they choose to support families alongside us, and we consider it a gift to share some of their stories with you. As a foster parent, Angela’s story reminds us of how vital it is for kids and families to feel seen, heard, and cared for from day one. “While we also support larger non-profits, we prefer to donate closer to home with organizations that are change-makers in our own community. Foster the Family provides wrap-around care for children experiencing foster care and the families caring for them. For the child, the exit from their everyday lives is often without warning. Similarly, for the individual or families taking them in, little notice is given, often less than an hour! During an already bumpy transition, most children arrive without necessities like clothing, backpacks, or toiletries. And sure, these may seem like small things, but without feeling comfortable with the small things, it’s difficult to grasp the significance of, let alone focus on, the bigger things – even kids recognize the importance of basic needs and how it makes them feel. FTF has identified this speed bump and made it easier for families and kids to not worry about the small stuff in the early days, and instead focus on the bigger picture of safety, security, and care. This was our experience as a new foster family when we accepted our first child, just two weeks after our family’s approval. Other than the social worker who brought him to our home, FTF was the very first knock on our door delivering a lifesaving "parachute of goodies" for all of us in the home, and we are forever grateful! Our family is frequently asked about our journey and how one might help us or the foster community. If this is a question you’ve asked yourself, please consider donating to Foster the Family.” - Angela #BeTheVillage #FosterTheFamily

Tune in with Mike & Joey for our latest episode of #GoodNewsFriday. 📺 https://lnkd.in/ge5VZNuz According the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, there are over 391,000 children living in the U.S. foster care system - and the number has been rising. Over 113,000 of these children are eligible for adoption and they will wait, on average, almost three years for an adoptive family. We work with several agencies throughout the country to connect these children to an adoptive family. By keeping track of data, these partner agencies can connect the children and family together. There are many heartwarming stories about how keeping track of data can accomplish this goal. We are honored to be the platform to help. #charitytracker #collaboration #nonprofit #nonprofitorganization #nonprofits #charity #community #casemanagement #software #casemanagementsoftware #nonprofitcasemanagement #foster #fostercare #fosterfamily #adopt #adoption #adoptionjourney

In a world of empty promises, actions speak louder than words. Bishop Martin's call to action for Christians to not just say the right things but do the right things for kids in the Foster Care system is a rallying cry we can't afford to ignore. We can't just talk about helping; we need to actively change the lives of hurting children. Foster children often face uncertain futures, but we can make a significant impact by providing something as simple—and as vital—as a suitcase. 🌟 How can you help? - **Donate a suitcase bundle**: Your contribution supports the Wait No More Foster Care and Adoption program. - **Offer comfort**: Every suitcase bundle provides a child with a sense of security and ownership. And there’s more: with your donation, you’ll receive the inspiring book, Small Town, Big Miracle. It's a small gesture for us, but a giant leap for these kids. It's time we match our big words with bigger actions. This is about more than pride or charity; it’s about giving children in the foster care system a ray of hope. ✊ Let's rise to the challenge. It doesn’t take much to do something monumental and life-changing. 7:2 - Did you know? On average, children in care move SEVEN times in TWO years. Children in foster care are constantly being uprooted, further increasing their trauma. They are not able to thrive -academically, mentally, or relationally - when they’re simply trying to survive. The only way to heal trauma is through consistent, healthy relationships. They’re essential to the outcomes for that one child, and they’re essential to the outcome of our community. Could you be that healthy grown-up in a child's life? I really like this campaign for foster care #donateyoursmalltalk . A lot of times when people think about charity, they think about monetary donations, so people who cannot or do not want to donate might mentally check out when charity comes up. But an issue like placing foster children requires so much help beyond the monetary. When you take a second to think about the stats in these PSAs, it's difficult to look away: Over 400,000 kids are in foster care right now Over 700 kids enter the foster care system every day Every year, 25,000 children age out of the foster care system and will be completely on their own It takes 34 months on average for a foster kid to get adopted Peppering in important topics like this in our regular conversation has a limitless ROI. Maybe you're not the person to volunteer, foster or donate monetarily, and maybe the first person you bring a topic like this up to won't be either, but the more that important information like this spreads around, the more likely it is that the people who are ready to help will find out about it and match with a cause that they feel ready and compelled to donate their time and abilities to. https://lnkd.in/gnGjaDHN

I am very grateful and proud of the Women's Initiative from TLC Engineering Solutions for supporting the Bag of Hope Project this month. The Bag of Hope initiative aims to provide the resources necessary for Foster Children aging out of the foster care system. Here are some studies that will help understand why these Foster Children need the help of the community. Some studies have estimated the cost of incarcerating youth who have been involved in the foster care system. The numbers are staggering when it comes to kids aging out of the care system without resources, often leading to homelessness or incarceration. For example, a 2016 report by the Juvenile Law Center estimated that in Pennsylvania, the cost of incarcerating a young adult who had been involved in the foster care system was approximately $324 per day, or $118,260 per year. The report noted that this cost is significantly higher than the cost of providing community-based alternatives to incarceration. According to a report by the Utah Juvenile Justice Working Group, the average daily cost of incarcerating youth in a Utah detention center was approximately $289 daily in 2018. This figure includes the cost of direct care and custody, education, and healthcare services. The state spends more than $8,000 per month on each youth incarcerated. What if we could avoid this situation in our community? This is the mission of the Hope Foundation for Foster Youth Housing. We want to be the support these young people need and provide them with the tools to become self-reliant, both physically and emotionally, as well as financially. Please, friends, if you can share and support our cause, you will make a difference in this nation. I am counting on you. As a former foster child myself, I know the challenges these young people face every day of their lives since being placed in the system and aging out. They need us. #BagOfHope #FosterCareSupport #YouthEmpowerment #CommunitySupport #HopeFoundation #AgingOut #EndYouthIncarceration #SupportOurYouth #ChangeLives #MakeADifference
