Let me hear that again: "To classify women as niche is to undermine the staggering $11 trillion in assets under their control in the United States alone. And that's just the present situation. Projections suggest that by 2030, American women will wield decision-making power over a minimum of $30 trillion." $30T. Are you listening, #privatesector #investmentindustry #publicsector?
Private Wealth Advisor at Ellevest. I help individuals build generational wealth through investing. Let's invest with intention.
Today marks my five year anniversary at Ellevest 💛 And while so much life has happened in these past five years, I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. The response to my joining of Ellevest five years ago was overwhelmingly positive. Congratulations were also sprinkled with some memorable well-wishes and commentary. Among these, the most ubiquitous sentiment was encouragement to excel in such a specialized, niche space. I often reflect on this notion of "niche". Because to label women as a niche ignores the fact that we make up half of the population. It is to dismiss the reality that women are the driving force behind consumer decisions, which in turn fuels nearly 70% of the United States economy. To classify women as niche is to undermine the staggering $11 trillion in assets under their control in the United States alone. And that's just the present situation. Projections suggest that by 2030, American women will wield decision-making power over a minimum of $30 trillion. For me, on most days, money is feminine. Thank you to Sallie Krawcheck, Sylvia S. Kwan, CFA, CAIA, Emily Green, and my Ellevest partners and clients for making this a reality. And, we’re just getting started 💫

Onboarding 2 new HQ team members today and having our monthly All Staff meeting. In that 1 team member will present another with the "Buffalo Culture" award for embodying some aspect or all of our Culture Code. Reflecting on 2018-2019 when we first forged this leadership motif and culture code idea now known as Buffalo Culture at C12 Business Forums. Initially some holy discontent issues met "I have a dream" workplace visioneering resulted in ideas like results over glory, big trust, entrepreneurial spirit, leadership mindset, perpetual innovation, fight for health and "be the buffalo." All of that eventually gelled around this handle of "buffalo culture." Gradually the team refined the language into collective verb ideas: We Find a Way We Head into the Storm We Enjoy a Herd Mentality We Protect the Herd We are Always Moving It's not natural. Entropy and human drama will always pull away from it, but that's the kind of place I want work. I hope these 2 new folks experience and champion it quickly. It starts today! You can check out the 1 minute video about the idea and ethos for this @ https://lnkd.in/gY9hHWgt

The Nest of Love: How Birds Inspire Human Values This video of young birds caring for their elderly parents is a heartwarming reminder of the importance of family and responsibility. In nature, even creatures without formal education understand the value of caring for those who came before them. As humans, we often get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our lives, sometimes forgetting the core values that bind us together. It's time we take a page from nature's playbook and re-emphasize the importance of: Filial Piety: Respecting and caring for our elders, whether they are family or community members. Empathy and Compassion: Putting ourselves in others' shoes and understanding their needs, especially those who are vulnerable. Gratitude: Acknowledging the contributions of those who paved the way for us. Community: Recognizing that we are all interconnected and are responsible for supporting each other. These values are essential not just in our personal lives, but also in the workplace. A company prioritising empathy and community will create a more positive and productive environment for its employees. Let's make a conscious effort to bring these values back to the forefront of our lives, personally and professionally. After all, as this video shows, even the smallest creatures understand the importance of caring for those who need it most. #HumanValues #Family #Responsibility #Compassion #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture

A 70-year-old, 74-foot tree from Massachusetts arrived, was hoisted and prepped at Rockefeller Center this morning for the upcoming holiday season. 🌲 As we approach this season, remember that the symbolism of the Christmas tree resonates deeply with the essence of successful business partnerships. 💪 Just like a Christmas tree, a flourishing partnership requires a solid foundation—strong roots that keep it stable and grounded. The branches represent the diverse strengths and skills each partner brings to the table, expanding the reach of what we can achieve together. 🎄 Decorating the tree with lights and ornaments mirrors the creativity and innovation we infuse into our collaborations. Each ornament tells a story of shared experiences, challenges overcome, and milestones celebrated. 🌟This season, let’s reflect on how our partnerships have blossomed throughout the year. May we continue to nurture these connections, ensuring our "trees" grow taller and shine brighter in the coming year. 🤝Here’s to celebrating the beauty of collaboration and another holiday season in unity! #BusinessPartnerships #Collaboration #HolidaySeason #Growth #Success #agencies #brands #newbusiness

Lessons are all around us, just waiting to be learned, if we take the time to pay attention and reflect. A few weeks ago, our President, Derek DeGeest, was invited by the South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development, to be a part of the Governor’s Buffalo Roundup at Custer State Park. This annual tradition is crucial to managing the buffalo’s population and grown in popularity. With over 24,000 people attending, a new record was set for this long standing tradition, which will celebrate its 60th anniversary next year. It was learned that unlike other animals that run away from storms, buffalo charge straight into them. Risk, uncertainty and instability will always be a part of life, both personally and professionally. A big part of how those challenges play out, comes down to the way we navigate them. Will we address them head on, move through them and come out on the other side armed with wisdom and growth? Or will we run from them, passively waiting for them to hit, frantically trying to figure out a way through it. At DeGeest and LestaUSA Self-Learning Painting & Finishing Robots, we’ve experienced many challenges, and we’ll encounter many more. The manufacturing industry will continue to face challenges, from workforce to automation, a storm seems to always be brewing. Knowing the leaders at the helm of these manufacturing companies, we have no doubt that the preference is to charge straight into these challenges because we know once we’ve passed the storm, our businesses and industry will be wiser and more prepared to continue producing the stronger standard for our customers and country. #buffaloroundup #southdakota #custerstatepark #buffalo #blackhills #astrongerstandard #strongercommunity #strongerindustry #strongerpeople #strongertogether

Just finished reading Animal Farm by George Orwell.... 🐷 "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." 🐷 It’s more than just a story about animals; it’s a powerful commentary on power, leadership, and human nature. Key takeaways that resonate deeply: 1️⃣ Power Corrupts: Even the noblest intentions can turn toxic when power goes unchecked. 🏛️ 2️⃣ Beware of Manipulation: Words can inspire revolutions or enslave minds—pay attention to who controls the narrative. 🗣️ 3️⃣ Leadership vs. Exploitation: True leadership uplifts others; exploitation hides behind a mask of unity. 🚩 4️⃣ Equality vs. Illusion of Equality: Promises of fairness often crumble when self-interest takes over. ⚖️ 📖 Orwell’s insights made me reflect on modern systems, workplace dynamics, and even personal growth. Are we challenging hierarchies where needed? Are we vigilant against biases and manipulations? 🤔 What books have changed the way you view leadership and power? Drop your recommendations! Let’s spark a conversation. 💬👇 #AnimalFarm #GeorgeOrwell #LeadershipLessons #PowerAndEthics #BooksThatInspire #ThoughtProvokingReads
