On October 24th partners of our law firm, David Camerini, Tomas Casalins, and Ezequiel Camerini, met with 25 business school students from the business school #“UADE” (Universidad Argentina de la Empresa), of Buenos Aires, Argentina). David gave a presentation concerning why the future business leaders may need to work with New York-based attorneys. #MaríaAngelesBonany, an old friend from #BancoSantander was kind enough to bring the students to our law firm, as part of an annual program she and #JavierGonzalezCamarasa, also from Banco Santander, run every year.

This is a tough competition among these other brilliant, brilliant nominees. The Concurrences stellar panel of judge is in trouble! Brazil: Unveiling the vertical merger landscape – A decade of assessments by CADE’s Tribunal is however a unique contribution to the Americas region, as it encapsulates the Brazilian decisional practice on non-horizontal mergers for the past decade. The piece presents a robust and original empirical research considered to have assisted Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica - Cade in the preparation and publication of the authority’s first non-horizontal merger guidelines. Please vote for this humble contribution to the Brazilian competition enforcement.

Nominations for the prestigious 2024 Antitrust Writing Awards by Concurrences are out. My best wishes to each of them. I had the honour of receiving this award in 2013 for a peer-reviewed article I had co-authored with Naval Chopra "The Curious Case of Compulsory Licensing in India" in the same category. From being a bundle of nerves when first nominated to being the first Indians to win this award was a whirlwind. The article delved into the intricacies of compulsory licensing under Indian patent law in the context of the Supreme Court judgement in Natco v Bayer, and assessed its interplay with the (Indian) Competition Act. Safe to say, an assessment of patent rights under Indian antitrust is still being debated after the Delhi High Court issued a judgement in Monsanto v CCI a decade later😂 Penning the article was more than just an academic exercise; it was about putting Indian competition law on the global map and addressing complex issues uncharted in India. To the nominees of this year — I hope your insights and analysis continue to push the boundaries of antitrust jurisprudence. #ConcurrencesAwards #CompetitionLaw #Antitrust #LegalExcellence #IndianJurisprudence

We are proud to announce Jennifer Bernardo has been nominated for Canadian Lawyer’s Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in the “Changemakers” category. This category includes lawyers and judges who have been leaders, innovators or catalysts for positive change in any area of the profession such as diversity, legal technology, law firm and practice management, education, access to justice, etc. Voting is now open and we encourage everyone to cast your vote at https://lnkd.in/ejfThvxm . The Top 25 Most Influential is not a lifetime achievement award but recognition of lawyers who have played a significant role in the legal profession and Canadian and international society in the last 18 months. Canadian Lawyer is defining “influential” as not just about bright stars, big deals, or the number of media mentions — although those may play a part. It’s about people who have power and influence the laws, justice system, and legal profession in Canada and abroad today. Voting closes on Friday, May 17, 2024.

Legal work is the ultimate people business. Even after all this time, I still feel it is an honour to advise and advocate for clients in matters that often represent enormous personal milestones. 2023 was a remarkable year for my team. We acted on a $500m family business sale, a $250m family business sale, the sale of a dairy business for a listed company, the purchase of a wonderfully niche manufacturing business for a global powerhouse, long term negotiated contracts for an ASX top 10 and an ASX top 20 group, and a capital raising for an ASX FMCG group who appointed a new distributor. I say thank-you to our clients for trusting us. I say thank-you to my team for their skill and commitment: Daryl Lim; Connie Lambropoulos; Yi Tung; Mitchell Gutteridge. By the way, if you would like a copy of my guide: 10 Key Steps to Successfully Sell Your Family Business, please direct message me.
