Vietnam General Secretary and President Tô Lâm visited FPT's booth at FrancoTech ✨ On October 4-5, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, General Secretary and President Tô Lâm will attend the 19th Francophonie Summit and make an official visit to France. During the visit, Tô Lâm attended and spoke at the FrancoTech Economic Forum and Innovation Exhibition, initiated by President Macron. He also toured Vietnamese business booths, including FPT. At FPT’s booth, Mr. Phạm Minh Tuấn, FPT Vice President and CEO of FPT Software, highlighted FPT's activities in France and Europe, focusing on AI, aerospace, automotive, energy, and healthcare. He emphasized that France is a key market for FPT, with plans to expand further and contribute 15% of FPT’s global IT revenue from Europe in five years, with 2023 IT revenue from Europe expected to surpass USD 100 million. Mr. Tuấn reiterated FPT’s commitment to digital transformation, working with major French companies and positioning Vietnam as a tech hub, especially in AI, Digital Transformation, Green Tech, and Automotive sectors. FPT, operating in France since 2008, currently has five offices, 100+ staff, and supports clients like Airbus and Canal+ Group. VIETBRANDS GOING GLOBAL (6): FPT Our next VietBrand going global is FPT Corporation currently Vietnam’s largest information technology service company, employing over 48,000 people of 73 different nationalities working from 83 offices based in 30 countries. The company’s revenue for 2023 totalled 2.1 billion USD with almost one half coming from international deals. FPT now serves over 1,000 business clients, of which at least 100 are Fortune 500 global companies. "In the past, FPT had to seek out its customers, but now, numerous major clients and partners are actively reaching out to Vietnam and FPT. The world is recognizing the value of Vietnam. Vietnam is emerging as a new global destination, securing the second position worldwide in software, just behind India -- Dr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT It all started in one of the offices of Vietnam’s National Institute of Technology Research, when on September 13, 1988, its director, Dr. Vũ Đình Cự,  signed a decision to establish The Food Processing Technology Company (FPT's original name) and appointed Truong Gia Binh to serve as director. Gathering a team of 13 talented engineers and scientists, director Binh started to develop and sell solutions for drying technology, information technology and automation technology to serve business partners in the old Soviet block. The timing looked right: it was just two years after Vietnam implemented Doi Moi, an economic program that implemented market reforms and allowed private ownership. Even without any budget, 13 entrepreneurial employees gave FPT its start as a technology import, export and transfer business. Right after the fall of the Berlin Wall (November 1989) the young company had pivoted into IT with more profitable customers. Along with that, the firm changed its name to the Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology, and won a government project working with state-owned Vietnam Airlines to build the airline’s Reservation and Booking system, which paved the way for FPT’s application software development for sectors from banking to telecommunications.
