Holiday Tip #6 Avoid Comparisons This can be one of the most challenging aspects of co-parenting in dual households. Financial situations vary from home to home, and all you can do is what is RIGHT for your family. Kids may comment on how much more they get from one parent vs the other. Acknowledge the difference and explain that you are doing the best for your home. If your co-parenting is amicable, you could suggest going in together for a higher-priced item. Many of my clients have found this eliminates the comparison and reduces the number of "filler" gifts each home may feel are necessary. Your family’s celebration is special because it’s yours.
