By adhering to strict safety standards, we prevent accidents, reduce downtime, and ensure smooth operations. This mindset has guided me in all my projects, from pre-commissioning to commissioning activities. 🔑 Key Safety Practices: Permit to Work (PTW) Systems: Ensuring all jobs are authorized and monitored to avoid any unforeseen hazards. Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Protocols: Implementing rigorous LOTO procedures to ensure equipment is safely de-energized during maintenance. Regular HSE Meetings: Actively participating in Health, Safety, and Environment meetings to stay updated on best practices and regulatory changes. Quality Assurance: Consistently maintaining high standards in all installations and maintenance tasks to avoid potential risks. 🌟 My Commitment to Safety: In my role as an ICSS & Instrumentation Commissioning Technician, I focus on: Effective communication to ensure everyone on the team is aware of safety protocols. Continuous training and certification to keep my knowledge up-to-date. Senior Technician, Operation & Maintenance (Utilities) Operate the compressed air plant (consists of air compressors, air dryers, and other auxiliary) at client site in effective and safe manners to fulfill the contractual production capacity. Maintain the compressed air plant’s equipment to fulfill or exceed the contractual efficiency and availability. Perform routine activities (daily operational checks and planned preventive maintenance). Maintain spares inventory at site. Without a strong foundation in the fundamentals, maintenance technicians simply won't be able to perform at desired level, regardless of how much higher-level equipment-specific training they receive, and regardless of how strong the policies, procedures, or managers are. The single biggest problem I have noted in decades of doing training and assessments across numerous industries nearly always goes back to the same fundamental concepts. It often surprises most managers how many electricians, instrument technicians, electrical engineers, and others in related fields don't actually have a truly current working conceptualization or understanding of the essential electrical concepts. Many techs learn these things in school - but then lose them by the time they actually get turned loose to perform real work (vs carrying tools or being a helper). Most techs can quickly learn or refresh the essential basics if given the opportunity and it nearly always leads to some of the most dramatic improvements in their skills (and even approaches and attitudes in many cases) - but the 'fundamentals' portions of the overall skillset is often overlooked or skipped in many training and development programs. Why It Happened, Mindset for Every Electrical Technician. Understanding the root cause of issues is more than just a troubleshooting exercise—it’s about preventing future problems, ensuring safety, and improving the overall reliability of the system. Taking the time to dig deeper, rather than applying a quick fix. Here’s what I have learned working as an Electrical Technician at Matrix Group Energy 🔹 Patience and Observation: Take a step back and look at the big picture. What signs were there before the failure? Was it a gradual issue or a sudden shutdown? 🔹 Data and Documentation: Use all available data—previous fault records, maintenance logs, and even minor observations from operators. Some Patterns can emerge that might not be visible at first glance. 🔹 Collaborate with Others: Sometimes, the solution lies outside the electrical domain. Communicating with other departments can shed light on underlying factors that contribute to the problem. 🔹 Never Assume: Even when a solution seems obvious, it’s worth verifying. Small assumptions can lead to big mistakes. For me, it’s not just about restoring power or fixing a circuit.
