On Saturday November 23rd, I am hitting the road to accomplish two endeavors - to complete the El Tour de Tucson century ride AND raise money for Make-A-Wish® Arizona!! YOU can personally help me reach (or exceed) one of these goals, and transform the lives of Arizona wish kids in the process. My personal fundraising goal is to raise $4500 for future Arizona wishes, and to celebrate Make-A-Wish's 45th birthday coming up in April of 2025! Why donate? A wish can truly transform the life of child who receives it. It can be something that provides lasting positive impact, not only for the child, but their family. In the midst of all the challenge a child must endure while battling their illness, their wish can give them an opportunity to think about something else. It can allow them to think about who they are, or what they want to be - what excites them, what are they passionate about, what would bring happiness into their life. A wish embodies who the child is at that moment in time and impacts each child individually. It can offer a child a sense of control in their life when they may feel they don't any. It can replace anxiety with hope, fear with confidence and sadness with joy. A wish can be life-changing. Because of you, Make-A-Wish grants more than 15,000 wishes nationwide every year. That’s a lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of the eligible kids. Every hour of every day, on average, three children are diagnosed with a critical illness. Every one of these kids needs a wish to give them strength and help them heal.
