Don’t worry, little dog. Monthly password changes are now considered poor practice (https://lnkd.in/dvzzFs92). The recommendation is to start with a strong, lengthy password that meets the 2024 password policy standards, along with additional authentication factors. After viewing this humorous video, can anyone really believe the use of passwords to keep your identity secure is a good idea. We need move beyond passwords which are oh so weak of credentials. Phishing resistant MFA (no email, no sms OTP) is merely a stop-gap compromise for the continued use of weakness of passwords. They form a credential which is a proxy for the users identity, and proxies can be faked or stolen. Hence a focus of DeepFake AI attacks. FIDO Passkeys provide a far stronger replacement for passwords and should be used to replace passwords everywhere as soon as possible. Passkeys alone are still identity proxies. Device bound passkeys eliminate some of the risk of synced/shareable passkeys. But to make them more than a proxy they need to be protected by strong out of band biometrics to secure them for who you are and not a proxy.
