🇦🇺 The thing about Australian flex space businesses... We all need to take a closer look. To be honest. Cat Johnson, Jamie Russo, Giovanni Palavicini and I recently joined a virtual panel at Flexible Workspace Australia's annual conference. It was led by Brad Krauskopf about whether Australian flex space businesses were leading or lagging behind the global market. We laughed. We cried. We sped through wins, challenges, social impact, real estate deal structures, pro tips, tech stacks, and discussed both emerging and undercurrent trends. We even threw about an "AI grenade" around booking platforms a little bit. But, the main thing I noted is that even in the areas where Aussie brands are leading (and there's a fair few of them), those stories, wins, innovations and market moves aren't being told, or at least shared widely enough. Both inside and outside the island/country/continent. Aussie business leaders, let's fix that? If you're in Australia ping me your news, and I'll do my best to highlight more of it. --- For future reference I first summarized a link about Australia for my newsletter 869 days ago (published in week 11 of 2022). Since then I've shared 52 more. Not bad but only 1.22% of the 4,343 summaries I've made and sent out. Edit: Correction, it is 1.85% of the total links logged in TWIC Explore. Still not enough!

I had the pleasure of attending today's CREW Silicon Valley Luncheon, and it was an incredible experience filled with valuable insights and dynamic discussions on the future of commercial real estate. A huge thank you to the panel of expert speakers Sherry Gubera, Nicole Lyon, Michelle L Goudeaux, RPA and our wonderful moderator Nathan Donato-Weinstein who made this event so enriching. Here are some of my key takeaways: 1. Market Trends: Understanding the shifting dynamics in the commercial real estate market, including the impact of remote work on office spaces and the growing importance of flexible and adaptable properties. 2. Family-Friendly Retail Centers: How retail centers are adapting to be more family-friendly, incorporating spaces for children and creating a welcoming environment for families. 3. Future of Returning to Office: This issue remains uncertain, and a full return to office may not happen soon. Discussions highlighted that we may see more return to office in the years 2027-2028, though it may never be a full 5-day in-office work week again.
