💡Attention students:💡 The Fraunhofer CML has an exciting call for applications regarding a BACHELOR- / MASTER THESIS with the topic DEVELOPMENT OF A CLASSIFICATION SCHEME FOR AUTOMATED TWISTLOCK HANDLING TECHNOLOGIES IN CONTAINER HANDLING The focus of the work is on the identification and classification of automated twistlock handling systems. Twistlocks are mechanical fasteners used on board ships to lock two containers loaded on top of each other. The process of removing and attaching these twistlocks to containers is called twistlock handling. The process is complicated and requires special attention from port staff to maintain terminal productivity and high safety standards. This work is therefore of great importance. 🚀 New Paper Publication 🚀 Our latest paper "Gesture and force sensing based on dielectric elastomers for intelligent gloves in the digital production" by Sebastian Gratz-Kelly, Daniel Philippi, bettina fasolt, Sophie Nalbach and Paul Motzki describes the development of an intelligent glove with various integrated sensor structures. The development of interfaces that ensure safe collaboration between industrial robots and workers is becoming increasingly important and influential due to recent advances in the field of human-machine interaction in industry 4.0. The paper shows first results on the design and characterization of a novel intelligent glove prototype based on dielectric elastomer (DE) elements. The main focus of this study is on DE-based integrated joint angle and force measurement units as well as on cost-effective and slim sensor electronics. The paper is freely accessible at https://lnkd.in/eVqZq7uw.

At our Show Case Area at Formnext - Where ideas take shape in hall 12.0 booth B01 we show Enable parts of our member companies. The Fraunhofer IGCV shows a 🚀 multi-material combustion chamber 🚀 . The multi-material idea is not entirely new. The conventional combustion chamber was made of copper on the inside for heat transport and nickel-based on the outside for the mechanical load. In addition, cooling tubes were attached from the outside. This process was a complex, lengthy, manual and error-prone process for manufacturing just one variant of the combustion chamber. This is where PBF-LB/MM offers great potential. Production takes place in a single process, and an automated, innovative coating concept enables several powders to be processed.

I'll be receiving the redesigned frame for my ULS(Universal Levitation System) project in 2 days. Here's my plan after getting it: - Meet my professors and discuss my project with them. - Ask for access to the lab to perform necessary experiments. - Document my observations and improve on the model. This updated frame is key to increasing the lift force of the model by creating an insert for an iron core! I'm excited to get my hands on it and start testing. If you have any suggestions or tips on handling a robotics project like mine, I'd love to hear them in the comments. For more info on my project, check my profile and follow for updates on it. #innovation #projectlife #engineering #levitation

Next steps towards future #ASSB production and #CellStacking?! As new solid electrolytes display high mechanical sensivity, the rather time-consuming single sheets stacking remains the favored stacking process. Trends move towards higher productivity and continuous process flows while allowing for more processing flexibility, as materials are still in development. I am pleased to share our newest insights in #SolidElectrolyte handling for ASSB cell stacking with a drum gripping principle which allows for a flipping of the cell components during stacking through bidirectional actuation. We can successfully stack #PolymerSolidElectrolytes and #LithiumMetalAnodes with high accuracy and precision. As of now, this conference paper is still in peer-review and can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eiVRRu_H In a few months, it will be published with the Springer-Verlag | Part of Springer Nature in a future edition of the "Annals Annals of Scientific Society for Assembly, Handling and Industrial Robotics A big thank you for my author team Matthias Strauss, Timon Scharmann, and Klaus Dröder as well as the MHI e.V. as a platform for exchange.

I am happy to share the publication of our paper "Introduction to Model Predictive Control", which is collaborated with Boli Chen, James Fleming, and Li Dai, in the Elsevier Reference Collection in Materials Science and Materials Engineering. This encyclopedia provides a definitive source for researchers and students of all levels who need trustworthy fundamental information to support emerging interdisciplinary research, especially in system and control engineering. This work introduces the basic principles of MPC, along with extensions that address robustness to disturbances, nonlinear dynamics, and considerations of economic cost. It covers both the theoretical aspects and practical implementation issues. The article also provides design examples, with a special focus on applications in automotive control, and discusses future trends of MPC. Feel free to share this paper with colleagues and students who are new to, or interested in, MPC.
