Do you know who your biggest competitor really is? It’s not always who you think. Take McDonald's, for example. You’d assume their biggest competitors are Burger King, Subway, or any other fast-food chain. But in reality, their biggest threat might just be... gym memberships. Yep. Indirect competitors force you to think outside the box and that’s where the growth happens. Let’s talk about Walkers Crisps UK’s latest campaign. Dry January is in full swing, and Walkers has nailed it with a tongue in cheek ad featuring none other than Dannydyer. They’ve positioned crisps as the perfect “alternative to a pint,” much like non-alcoholic beers. Genius, right? It’s a masterclass in leveraging consumer behavior. They’re not just competing with other snack brands; they’re piggybacking off a movement and aligning themselves with a healthier lifestyle. This kind of creative thinking is crucial, especially as the new high sugar & fat laws are coming in October which will limit advertising for foods in that category. Walkers are playing the long game, finding ways to stay relevant despite the restrictions. (That said, nothing beats a bag of Tayto’s Salt & Vinegar you can’t tell me otherwise) So, let me ask you, who’s your indirect competitor? https://lnkd.in/eKrsZnRt #Marketing #Walkers #Advertising2025

You won't gain fat from weekend pizza binges. Here's why extra food won't stick around in your body: I used to weigh myself each morning after big meals. The numbers would freak me out. Then I found this cool study of 16 people who ate tons of extra food. Want to know what happened? They ate 1,400 extra calories every day for 2 weeks. But they only gained 100g of fat each day - way less than the scale showed. Most of that extra weight? It's food sitting in your belly and water. Not fat. Need proof? Weigh yourself 3 days after a big meal. The scale drops back down. Your body fights back against short food binges. Enjoy your weekend meals. The weight spike will pass.

Thanksgiving dinner might be over, but the leftovers are the gift that keeps on giving. To safely enjoy them while saving energy, remember to reheat them thoroughly so they are piping hot (above 70°C) before eating. If you are reheating through a microwave, stir food midway and cover it to heat evenly.🦃 Want to know why heating food is vital for safety and flavour? 🍳 Check out this fact sheet on the Safe Heating of Food: https://buff.ly/3jep0FY 🔗

Here are some tips for reheating food safely: Cover food: Cover leftovers to retain moisture and ensure even heating. Rotate food: If you're using a microwave, rotate the food so it heats evenly. Allow stand time: After microwaving, allow at least a two-minute stand time, or follow the manufacturer's instructions. Bring sauces to a boil: Reheat sauces, soups, and gravies by bringing them to a rolling boil. Thaw frozen food: If you're reheating frozen food, make sure to thaw it before serving. You can thaw frozen food by running cold water over it or in the microwave. Food that's been cooked and cooled goes through the temperature danger zone, which is between 41°F and 135°F. This is the ideal temperature range for microorganisms to grow https://lnkd.in/gS5bVKBB
